Hello people! I just got my psp modded from 5.01ofw to 3.71cfw. But my psp has this weird problem: The MS and WiFi lights stay on all the time, even if i turn the psp off. My friend told me that there is a program to turn the lights off, can anyone point me to it, and maybe give a few steps how to use it? Or if someone knows how to make the leds work like normal again, please respond! (BTW, this was frm the very beginning, and firmware flashing didn't help).
Thanks a lot!!
Hellooo!! :)

Did you try unplugging it from the ac adapter and removing the battery? just to see if it resets it somehow?
If you put the battery back in and are still having the problem then
I'd say there's a 99% chance your problem is hardware related, not software.
Probably not the MOST helpful response but I was just putting my 2 cents in :P
You know I give you the mad, phat, superfly, stupid-dope, dumb-ass, retarded, bomb-sh*t props!
What else do you want from me!?!

Never heard of any programs like that...you probably damaged the wifi board somehow (dropping, hitting, etc.) Anyways, open it up and check the contact points and circuitry for the led's or just purchase a new board and swap it out.

Gonna concur with Staxx on this one. Should be semi-easy fix if you're familiar with basic electronics.
Also I've never heard of a homebrew app messing with LED's. I can't see an app controlling those...
Impossible? No. Unlikely? Yes.
If it's out there I wish ya all the luck in the world getting it.

Hi Neon,
How about just 15 years back could we think about a computer can control a Machine through Internet?
Unlikely for someone? YES 100% UNLIKELY
Impossible to someone? NO Impossible is nothing.
The same thing's here. Whatever we are getting on the PSP screen's SOFTWARE controlled. If you say that, there's no such software can do it so how do I code to get the mac address from our home router into PSP. Just to let you know that, I'm C/VB .Net Developer working on PSP. Sorry didn't want to mention it but have to to STAND MY POINT.
So that's possible.
Take it Easy....
Take care

Hello and thanks for the replies! The cfw that i put on it was 3.71 m33-3, now i have updated it successfully to 5.00 m33-3. The problem persists.
As for taking the memsticks out and stuff as such, i have tried them all. Making the battery Pandora isn't an option cause i can't afford buying another battery. Also, when putting the cfw on, i used a fat softmodded 1800mAh battery and the lights were still constantly on.
if it is important, the psp is a slim psp2001, and it was like this when i bought it - maybe the previous owner dropped/hit/smashed it somewhere :P
All help really appreciated! :)

As stated...check the circuitry. I'm guessing your problem pertains to the resistors for the LED's.

Alright, can you please tell me where should i look for the problem exactly, and what should a problematic resistor look like? :P

Staxx is going to have to field that one. As much as I enjoy helping people out...teaching electronics over a forum post is not really my forte. :P
Good luck man.

Are you experienced with a soldering iron? You'll be soldering things about the size of a skin flake. If you don't know what your doing, i would suggest either...
a. you live with the lights being on all the time.
b. you purchase a new board and swap it.

I Don't even own a soldering iron (and won't be getting one...). And getting a board in my country is impossible, also i have no more cash to spend on it. So I guess I'll be living with it.
Also, here's the program that "doesn't exist" by your sayings, however it turns off the leds when in hold mode: http://dl.qj.net/index.php?pg=12&fid=24960&catid=151
Too bad it doesn't have an effect on the leds of my psp - must be a big problem then :P

I never said it didnt exist...scroll up and you'll see that i said "Never heard of any programs like that". What country are you from? Ebay isn't an option for you?

Sorry, I just remembered that somebody said it didn't exist, but my memory must be failing me :P
I'm from Estonia, and as i stated before, i have no funds to spare on the PSP, so unless i get it free from eBay, it's out of the question :)

No one said it doesn't exist. Reread your own post.
And please don't come here asking for help then turn around and be condescending about it.
Furthermore you still haven't shown us a program that turns your lights off permanently b/c if you had, your problem would be solved.
I'm sorry to have to be rude but that little snippit you put in at the end was completely uncalled for and really seemed like a cheap shot at Staxx and myself just because you didn't get a solid solution to your little problem.

No, actually it wasn't meant as mockery or anything, sorry. I just said that the program turns the leds off on all other psp's other than mine, so i think it is a bigger problem (hardware related surely). And as i have no soldering iron, there is no way i can fix my problem.
Hellooo!! :)
