Hello all, first let me apologize for being stupid, i have searched the forums for help but seem to be twice as confused now! i got a psp for my son and want to put games on it for him. I have a 4gb stick, and a few games already downoaded. they were in iso form, i extracted them and got a file called psp_game and a seperate .bin file. do i put both in the iso folder? i have version 1.5 do i need to install other software on the psp to play them? im just totally confused as to where i put the folder and if i need anything else to make it work. someone please advise me thanks, pat

Hi, Yeh what has happened is that the iso is actually opened, you need to dl a program called YACC( just Google it) and drag both files into it, this will recreate the iso you need, once done just drag iso to iso folder!

Yeh you going to have to upgrade to a higher firmware, its very easy. Check this link http://www.mediafire.com/?anznzrwyyzy Also just drag both the PSP_GAME and the .BIN folder into YACC and goto create iso it will do it for you!

If you can get it sorted on YACC then try UMDGEN and do the same thing, drag both files into it and goto create iso!

Right then first off if you are going to do it maually you gotta do it in steps, go from 1.5 to 3.52m33 and then update-3, then to 3.71 m33-? (just update to the most recent 3.71 m33). Then update to any firmware 3.80 m33 or later. Once you update to one of those, use the Official Firmware Update option, and it'll actually download CFW for you. Then you just have to install it. Heres a link to get you to 3.52m33, very easy. Let me know how you get on. http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732

snowman, i am so sorry to have been a pain, but i must have looked at something wrong on the psp. My current firmware is actually 3.72 so i guess i need to do something different. also i was told you can do movies on this thing. so what i did was converted a movie to mp4 renamed it mv00000.mp4 and put it into the 100mv01 folder that was already created when i formatted the stick, and i cannot find it on the psp when i turn it on. can you help with this as well?? thanks

Hi, i have been reading this and i just wanted to make sure on a few things before i help you. So you say you are on a 1.50 and 3.72 firmware, so to check what firmware it is, turn on your psp and go to system settings, then near the bottom go to system information, it should be the top writing where it should say the firmware you are on.
If it says 3.72 then the only way to check if you are on a 1.50 firmware is by going into recovery mode by (turning the psp off completely, then keep hold of R1 and turn the psp on, with R1 kept hold still until it goes to recovery mode).
Reply back and tell me if you got onto recovery mode.

Hi, yeh if you do what didz said and you see 3.72HEX then you are on custom firmware if there is no letters after it you dont have custom firmware and are going to have to get a pandora battery and magic ms to downgrade/ upgrade your psp, if you are on cfw you should already have an iso folder to put your iso file in. If you go into recovery and find you are on 1.5 try changing your kernel to 3.72!

Hi, thats ok now, since that you cant get to recovery mode this means that you are not on 1.50, which you are only on 3.72 so now you will have to downgrade to 1.50 then to upgrade to something like 3.40 OE-A to be able to watch movies, play games and also play homebrew games.
Since you are above 3.50, you wiull need to use a pandora battery to be able to downgrade to 1.50.

well i'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff but snowman 1 is right about the games you can't play whole downloaded games with the firmware that you have but you should be able to put pictures, movies and music on without changing the firmware. i'm not too computer smart but to find out how to do anything prepare for some reading to do it right. but to help with half of your problem download dvd decrypter and 3gp converter/or psp video 9 (all freeware programs) which work and are very easy to use (you can use the search button for all right here)as well as guides on how to use these programs. as for the games even more reading on pandora's battery and magic memory sticks for that problem, Good Luck

What you have to do is create a pandora battery and magic memory stick to be able to downgrade to 1.50, but first of all you need someone who already has a psp with 1.50, so you may have top borrow a psp from someone.

@finfan13

you can HARD MOD your battery and turn it into a Pandora Battery or BUY a pre-made one, such as Datel Tool Battery [around $10 to $20]
look for some guides on this site
