Hello All,

Well I am thinking about getting a mod chip for my Wii, because I am going to kill my kids if they destroy another new Wii game. I am not sure what kind I am going to get. I have done a lot of reading on the forums and searching here and there, but things change as new chips come out. My questions are:

What chips are everyone using?
Are you using the solderless chips like this one?[url=http://www.modsupplier.com/catalog/solderless-d2pro-modchip-pi-260.html]
Where did you get yours from?
How do you like them?
Any problems with the wii after the chip was installed?

It's all nice to ask what people are using, but if you've been doing your homework you'd have seen that your choices will be dictated by what chip your Wii has.

I have a soldered Wiikey on my D2B (cut legs)
I installed a Wiikey with a WiiClip on my friend's D2B (non cut legs)
I installed a D2ProV9 with a WiiClip on a friend's with a D2C

I don't plug a vendor since it may not be applicable to where you live.
They all work.
I have had no problems with any of my 3 installs

ALso, if you are truly going to mod your Wii to run backups of your own discs, do you have the equipment with which to do your own backups? Although there are some that may disagree, the tried and true (and easiest IMHO) way required a specific DVD-ROM drive to backup, but any DVD writer to burn.

Well I have done some homework and from what I can tell I have the D2C without opening up the wii. I understand that there is a chance that it is not, but it is mostly pointing at the D2C. There are also a couple of chips that i can use for it and I was looking at the WiiKey 2. Not sure if anyone has used it. Mainly wanted to know if anyone has used the solderless wiiclip and if they have had any problems. You answered that for me. Thanks. I do not have a problem downloading the iso's of disc I have and burning them. Just looking for some up to date input. With newer firmware and new chips out since some of the post I was wanting to see if there where any problems.

But thanks for the help

@Maxedout

You know, you don't have to install a Mod Chip to play backups anymore, you can SoftMod your Wii through the use of just an SD Card.
There are tons of guides on this site if you want to use this method, use the SEARCH^^
As for for modchips, I suggest WiiKey2 for the right motherboard
Take Care \^^
