How do I upgrade from CFW 4.01 M33-2 to 5.01?

Do i need to use the memory stick/pandora's battery method or can i do it by hooking up to the net on the PSP?

no u need to get the program which will upgrade your psp, put it onto memory stick, and then use it on your psp

Assuming you wish to upgrade your custom firmware to 5.00M33-3 and not to official sony firmware 5.01-you can either use the network update function from your psp's menu, or it can also be done manually by placing the updates into the GAME folder of your memory stick. You can find custom firmware updates at www.psp-hacks.com in the 'downloads' section.

If you are looking to have official firmware installed for whatever reason (selling, or trading in system, etc.) Then you would need a pandora rig to install the official firmware.
