Hey everyone. Im sorry for asking a question that has undoubtedly been asked a million times already. But there is just SOOOOO much info on the web about modding a Wii, I find it quite overwhelming and have no idea where to start. Even searching through the threads here, I cant seem to find STEP 1.... where the heck to begin.
I was wondering if someone could tell me the best way to mod a Wii with no soldering experience? I am a total newbie at this, I have zero experience modding any systems, and virtually no electronics experience. I do know how to open computers and change out parts, so Im not a total moron... just have no experience with video game systems.
Any info or pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

You can find a guide to open your wii on google. Once you do that, since you have no experience modding, you should look into buying a modchip with a wiiclip already soldered. That way you can just attach it to your wii DVD drive.

I'd highly recommend WiiKey 2
BUT...if you only want to mod it to be able to play Wii game backups, are you sure? Because you can SoftMod your Wii to play all Wii game backups and this method is much easier than to open and HardMod your Wii, and ofcourse has no price since you don't have to buy anything.

Ok, well yes the only purpose of my mod will be to play wii backups. So if I can do this without buying a modchip, please explain how it is done, or point me in the right direction. Thanks a lot.

@AccessDJ
First you need to install The Homebrew Channel. To do that you need an original working copy of Twilight Princess and an SD card that works in your Wii.
There are many guides on how to do this on this site, just use the Search on top of this page, and you'll find something good. If not, you can always come back here and post^^
Good Luck \^^/

did you have to buy the zelda game? or can you rent it if you need it one time? Can you play all games now? I have the newest firmware that was downloaded the other day. Will this work or do I need to downgrade?
