LG DVD-ROM for Backups?

Hey, guys! This is my first day looking at modding an xBox 360. I have an LG DVD-ROM GDR8164B. Is this sufficient to rip the image using xBox Backup Creator? I've been reading the forums all day and it sounds like Hitachi is best, but I thought I'd check.

what exactly are you talking about? ripping and modding are two different things. But I guess I didn't know poop from a popsicle the day I joined so welcome to Afterdawn! I am fairly confident the drive you listed is more versed for the original xbox or even the Wii but probally won't help you with a 360. I could be wrong though. Personally I suggest a toshiba/samsung 163 ide or sata which ever you choose and flash it with Kreon 1.0 to rip games with XBC. Then you will need a quality dl burner and only VERBATIM media to burn them. If you are patient I am sure the senior guys will chime in here and give you some more pointers. Goodluck!

That lg drive is the drive that is used to rip WII GAMES, not xbox 360 games! Read up, you'll see you need a specific drive

Thanks, guys! I have a modded Wii and that's what the LG DVD-Rom was for. Wife's letting me get a new system so I thought I'd jump on the xBox Train!
