Hitachi 79FL Flash Problem

i need a little help with flashing a xbox 360,the drive is a 79FL i can get it to mode "B" so its shows in windows,the drive will have the open all the time when closed unless i either push the close button once then push it closed or hit close 3 times whiles actually closing, so i know its in "B" mode,i can then get it to unlock with the 79 unlocker ready for flashing,but then the drive will lock up and there is nothing i can do i cant even eject the cd/dvd tray windows will more or less lock up and wont do a thing for any program related to flashing the drive until i shut down the 360 then everything will open as normal
oh and when using slax 2.1 where it says its spinning the drive up it says drive is unresponsive ( or sumthin along those lines )trying again in 5 secs then it says the same thing again and another 5 sec wait,then it will continue in the normal way when i get into windows the drive is there ( there is an original dvd movie in there as per-instructions from a tutorial i was told about on these very forums )this is only the 3rd 79 drive i have tried to unlock the other 2 took me 15mins i spend 4 hours trying to get this to work,ive tested the drive with original games and it loads them no problems,im clueless HELP!!!! plz
i can get the 79 drive to show in windows see pic below
as you can see its clearly there, i can then dump the firmware and then it will ask me if i want to check it

it will then ask me if i wish to do a checksum on the file i click yes and get the message as below
i click yes,then i get this message
then when i go to tools/smart hack patcher i either get this message
or most of the time i get this message that the file does not exist
which of course the orig.bin does exist as it just checked it
any idea's?

Hello there.
I had problems with firmware toolbox 3.0 at the time i was flashing. so i tryed to download new'er and older fw toolbox version's try fw toolbox 4.6. worked for me
It is worth a try, and sorry my bad english!

ive tried versions 4.6 and 4.7 and 4.8 nothing will do it,i even tried to crack the firmware without the 360 connected and it still says the file is not there it is when i start then it just disapears into the twilight zone or sumthin

Start over, from the start. And make a new dump of the drives orginal firmware. And then try and patch again.

Doesn't Toolbox require netframework to be installed? I think so, but I may be wrong.
Anyhow, do you have it installed?

ive used it on the pc before to flash a 79 drive with no problems just this 1 360 is giving me the problems

im still having the same problems with this drive i can extract the original firmware from it but every time i try to create the hacked firmware it says either the definitions for this rule set have not been filled or says error 51 the file does not exits
please help

ive got ixtreme 1.4 like i said ive done this drive type before im not totally stupid :)

It's got to be something simple, but it looks like there's no one who has read this thread who's run in to the same problem.
I'd say jump over to xboxhacker.net. That's where Maximus hangs out. But be warned... do an extensive search before you just start posting there. They can be pretty tough on newbies.
Sorry we didn't have the answer here.

the problem seemed to be a corrupted file in all the version of firmware tool i had as i downloaded version 4.8 again and connected the 360 to the internet and updated to the nxe update,which funny enough installed without a harddrive being in place which i did not know,once i done both of these it flashed 1st time no problems
