Hello everyone. I managed to get CFW onto my PSP a couple of months ago thanks to a lot of people on these forums. Now I'm trying to get some of my PSX games to run on my PSP, but I'm running into a problem with required EBOOT.PBP files.
Here is my setup right now:
PSP 2000 Slim with 5.00 M33-3
4GB memory stick (Real)
Final Fantasy IV,V,VI (Legally owned CD's)
Hot Shots Golf 2 (Purchased from PSN)
So far I made an image of my FFIV CD using this guide and Alcohol 52%. It gave me 3 files:
FinalFantasyIV.ccd (~1KB)
FinalFantasyIV.img (~376MB)
FinalFantasyIV.sub (~15MB)
Then I downloaded Hot Shots Golf 2 from the PS Store (*from my PSP*) and copied the game folder over to my PC. Here is what it gave me:
DOCUMENT.DAT (~12MB)
EBOOT.PBP (~146MB)
KEYS.BIN (~1KB)
As per couple guides, it said to copy the EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN to the {~/PSX2PSP/Files} folder. I then ran the PSX2PSP application with these parameters:
ISO/PBP File : ~/FinalFantasyIV.img
Game Title: Final Fantasy Chronicles - Final Fantasy IV
Main Game Title: Final Fantasy Chronicles - Final Fantasy IV
Game ID: SLUS 01360
Main Game ID: 01360
After 100% completion it spits out the error:
"Cannot find valid STARTDAT in Not a valid PSX eboot.pbp"
I've been browsing forums for literally hours, but I can't find anything that I might have done wrong. Is there a better way to be doing this, that others have had success with?
Thank you.

I forgot to add that I did indeed rename the EBOOT.PBP to BASE.PBP and then put it in the {~/PSX2PSP/Files} folder.

Ok.
can I just say this first:
I commend you BIG TIME for
1)doing your homework
2)trying to do this on your own first
3)making a very very descriptive post
4)having an appropriate title
If everyone did like you've done here, the number of bad/redundant/repetitive/unnecessary posts on this website would go down to a fraction of what they're at right now.
That being said here's a link to a page where I helped someone else with a full tutorial on making PSX eboot files for your psp.
EVERYTHING you'll need to know should be on this page:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/717330
The only bad news I have for you is you didn't need to buy hot shots. It's not needed (anymore) :P
Make sure you read ALL the posts from NeonMako (Myself, aka GLiTCH)
If, for some reason, you run into a problem, let me know and I'll help you out the best I can.
I feel extremely comfortable with the topic of PSX on PSP and will be more then happy to share what I know.
***Edit was to fix a couple typos***
You know I give you the mad, phat, superfly, stupid-dope, dumb-ass, retarded, bomb-sh*t props!
What else do you want from me!?!
Dark_Alex...mad love and thanks for giving this community so much and asking for so little.

Thanks for the reply, it is extremely appreciated.
I actually tried that guide the other day and it didn't work, but lo and behold I gave it a shot today and it worked perfectly. I had to try the procedure on my other computer (Dell PC running XP) to get it to work. For some reason it wouldn't work on my laptop, but who knows why that is.
So far I converted FFIV, FFV, FFVI and Chrono Trigger and they all work so far (I even have nice little pictures and backgrounds for the games).
Thanks again, it's been frustrating but definitely well worth it.

Indeed. The fact that you can convert all the cd's in multi disc games to a single eboot and let the game handle disc switching makes that procedure uber handy (imo).
Also I'm a HUGE fan of customization, and when you learn about .pmf customizing and what not you can make the coolest freaking start up screens.

I'd start with reading my replys to this post...
B/c if you had, you'd know that you don't even need hotshots golf to emulate PSX on PSP.
Scroll up, go to the link I provided, and follow my guide.
