ok well... i had a psp slim with 5.00m33 that i bought from my friend and desided that i wanted to downgrade to 3.90m33with upms4 so i downloaded upms4 to my mac and ran the program.so when i started it up it said that i need to install fatms3.71 so i installed it and it ran smooth until it said returning to xmb . after it said this the screen turned black and sat there for 5 secs and then the psp turned off. so i figured i messed up aand fully bricked my baby but it is just a semi brick so ive been registering to all kinds of sites to try and figure out how to fix my baby and thenn desided to turne for my favorite site which is afterdawn... so if ther is anyone out there that can help me and get my baby running smooth again plz help and if its difficult riht now to fix it its gona be more because my mac dosnt hve any pc emulating software and i have no acces to a pc... and just a quick question which you dont realy have to answer ... why are all progams like the psp mms maker always for pcs only and i understand that its a hard prosess to make these programs and i am in astonished by what you guys have done but is it that hard to write the code in another language that a mac can read so us mac users dont have to buy a pc or a $150 progam just to run a pc and not even come with microsoft

Download this file, http://www.mediafire.com/?anznzrwyyzy Open your card on pc and put the recovery folder in the PSP/GAME folder, then go into your recovery by rebooting and holding left trigger button and then press x on Run program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP. The program will run and you can pick which firmware you want to go to. Let me know how it goes?

The UPMSv4 is not compatible with 5.00M33, but it sounds like you found that out the hard way..Just use that recovery folder like sn0wman said, and you'll be back in business in no time.

The latest version of UPMS/UPT has corrected that problem with the semi-bricks and the fatms3.71 issue. I have a link to the updated program in my sig if you wish to use something like UPMS in the future.

If he formats flash0 that will wipe out everything including the ability to get into the recovery mode. (ie: full brick)

@mac509-I was doing a little research and this is what I came up with-I found this snippet on www.pspslimhacks.com-

This will require you to go into recovery again, but this time you will be actually accessing the internal memory (flash) of the psp via your computer. **Use caution when accessing your flash0 as this is the heart and soul of your psp-DO NOT delete any files from any of the folders unless you want to end up with a full brick** Just follow the instructions below...Good Luck

This sounds like the same problem you are having

I have a little problem concerning the FatmsMod in 5.00 M33-3. I extracted ?fatmsmod.prx? from the official 3.71 firmware, moved it to the root of my memory stick, ran the patch normally from the XMB, it went just fine, then my PSP rebooted itself and now it won?t run at all. I turn it on, the power light turns on, screen stays off and it turns off by itself after a few seconds. I can get to the recovery menu though, holding the R trigger when turning on my PSP, however I cannot execute GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP, the screen goes blank and my PSP turns off again after a few seconds. It looks like I?m screwed, the ?fatmsmod.prx? was probably corrupted, I don?t know, but now it looks like I can?t read anything from my memstick, what should I do? What CAN I do? Please help me

Solution

For all the ppl who semi-bricked their psps Recovery doesnt work not even using Hellcats recovery, Just use ur pandora if u have if u dont shame on you I think the culprit is if you use fatmsmod.prx with a size of 94.1 KB (96,432 bytes) which is encrypted/compressed.

The one that worked for me was the fatmsmod.prx with 186kb unencrypted..I think D_A should block the use of the encrypted version? Anyone can confirm this, cuz i bricked mine using the 94.1 KB file.

Download the decrypted fatmsmod.prx 186kb from somewhere and Toggle Flash0 from recovery. Rename the fatfsmod.prx to fm371.prx and paste it in the kd folder overwriting the old one.

Again, this is taken from another forum. but I have seen this similar solution posted before elsewhere and it just occured to me that the recovery eboot wont work when you have a semi-brick involving the fatmsmod issue-you will have to hunt down that decrypted .prx file yourself though as we cant post links here

I'm sure i have formatted flash0 before, i could be mistaken it might have been flash1, i have defo done one of them and its been fine, but if you are sure, DONT DO IT just to be on the safe side. DEE'z_nUTZ sounds like he's onto something here, go with that!

You can safely format flash1 in recovery-that is the equivalent to 'restoring default settings' from the regular psp menu. I figured thats what you meant as there is no way to format flash0 unless you were to do something foolish and toggle flash0 from recovery and then delete all the folders in a wonton fashion.

@mac509-let us know how that works out for you

I dont know where to find one off hand-I was just looking at the various forums..It sounds like you would need to use PSARdumper like you said and grab the file from the 3.71 eboot-but seeing that you dont have a functioning psp-we need to find one for you so you can get your psp operational again.
