Opinons on which is better requested. I'm trying to decide which to get. I've browsed through the track packs available and both have pros and cons for me. Once I get your opinion and the reason behind it, can you answer the following:

Would I be able to purchase GH 3 tracks from PSN to work with GH WT? WT has a drum kit, right? So I can see how the tracks may not be compatible.

I'm still on my PS2 when it comes to GH and RB games. Can I use my wireless PS2 GH controller for either of the PS3 GH or RB titles? I have a USB - PS2 adapter that works great on my PS3, allowing me to use my Logitech PS2 wireless controllers. I have not been able to try out the wireless GH controllers, as I have not purchased GH or RB for the PS3 yet.

Thanks in advance!

If i remember correctly, you need a special ps2 usb adaptor to work with the GH/RB guitars, it will have a separate setting for the guitar rather than a normal controller.

Tracks for Guitar Hero WT and Rock Band are not interchangeable. So when you buy a track for Rock Band on the PSN you can't use that for play on Guitar Hero World Tour. Good news is that you can use the Rock Band peripherals in Guitar Hero World Tour game.

Thanks. But if I buy GH 3, can I purchase GH WT tracks and play them? Or the other way around - buy GH WT and purchase GH 3 tracks?

I googled "Will GH3's guitar work with Rock Band or Guitar Hero World Tour" and yes is the answer that I am getting.

I already found this:
PS2 - PS3 GH Adapter

Now I'm just curious if all GH tracks are compatible with both GH games.

Wait, so you're saying the downloaded gh3 tracks will work with gh:wt? How would that work since there is no drums or vocals.

That's what I was wondering. If anything, I want to get WT, but there are tracks I really want that are for GH 3. In that regard, Rock Band seems more appealing, since I've read that there is an unlock code that can be purchased for $5 that will rip the tracks off RB1 for use with RB2. But.....(and here is where the original question comes into play)....what are the opinions on which is better and why?

Guitar Hero Vs. Rock Band
Is Essentially
Challenging Vs. Song Variety

IMO anyway

Personally Rockband 1's guitar on the hardest difficulty bored me to death, it was like guitar hero on medium.

On another note I have always heard that those adaptors yall are talking about dont work for sh!t. I wouldnt go planning on buying any games if those adaptors are playing a role in the decision factor. Just a head's up.

I hear ya. I'm reluctant to trust the adapter, but the one I listed has good reviews and a lot of people claim it works great, with a couple minor bugs.

Does anyone know if the PS3 GH guitar will work on a PS2? I could then sell my wireless PS2 GH guitars. I really don't want to have all of these guitars lying around. Why do these companies have to make these purchases so complicated. IMO, everything should be at least backwards compatible. If the PS3 guitars have more features, then they should at least have all of the older features needed for the PS2.

i couldnt agree more emugamer!
i looked and looked online to find out if the guitars are interchagable and all that jazz. And i have to say they do NOT make it easy for the consumer one bit!
I reccommend you do a search on ebay, they have lots of style guitars that work with all GH games, and even a few that work with all of both GH and RB games!! thats the one i bought!
just food for thought.

That is incorrect. Only a few tracks work for both games. The new Metallica CD, and a few others are the only songs that can be played on both GH3 and GHWT. Go to Guitar Hero website and look at the track list. It will show which games are "multi" games.
