i just downloaded cod5 and it needs to be updated to work so i am wondering if updating my wii (chipped with d2ckey) to the latest Frmware (i think its 3.4) will it disrupt my wii and how it lets me play burned games on my wii? is it safe to update to the highest fw for wii right now?

so in other words will a upgrading the fw of my wii affect the modchip at all?

basically, in 3.4, any region patched games wont work, i should know first hand, and it also gives nintendo teh right to download updates for your wii and installing them without you knowing it, if you have your wii connected to the internet

for the updates i just deleted all of my internet settings so i can be safe to know that no updates will be coming my way anytime soon, but i think u can block the update isp through your router or sumthing... as for the games, im sure that NTSC to PAL converison doesnt work as i have tried it several times with different NTSC titles and it still refuses to work. what i would advise is to download the iso to cod5 (which im guessing u might still have) and run it through a programme called wiibrickblocker which removes the update off the disk. i am about 95% certain that if you region patch ur games it will not work on 3.3 or 3.4 since region patchers use trucha signing, a feature which has been dissabled and blocked on 3.3 and 3.4

and also, dont try to use regionfrii to change it back to NTSC as it just patches it again, hence it wont work. what i would advise is if you have already updated to 3.4, try cod with a region patch (which probs wont work). if you get a black screen saying there is an error, then you have to re-download the iso and brickblock it. if you have 3.2, then all you should really do is brickblock to stop it updating...

ummmmm, the website should be this one:
http://wbb.rockman18.com/?page=home&ln=en
i dont know if im allowed to post websites, but its for helping you so yeah :D
and for your second question, i dont think it will make a difference. but what i think you should do first is to install teh homebrew channel becuase some games require WAD's to run, and u can use custom installs for them through the HBC, im not so good in that field though, so i suggest u ask someone else, but yeah, its good to install the HBC just incase you need to downgrade
