assistance needed for dumping and flashing MS28

can anyone help me out?

I am trying to dump the firmware from a ms28 dvd drive and insert it into another dvd drive. i have tried to used iprep and it hangs every time i try to use dsam. mtkflash hangs also. looking through the forums i am getting the same errors other people are getting. i have tried the 10 second rule, that did not work. tried turning it off then turning it back on, nothing. i have tried the floppy method, usb method, NTFS DOS, all gets me the same results. bought a new SATA card, so now i have 4 SATA ports on 2 different cards. can anyone out there please help me.

What sata card do you have?

What os are you using?

What version of iprep are you running.

Are you following the 2008 tutorial to the letter?

I'm running iprep v008 pro
i have 2 sata controllers NVIDIA nForce3 250 and a Initio inic
i have tried earlier versions of Iprep and still nothing.
