Does the D2B need a V4C clip when installing WiiKey2?

I am planning on installing the Wiikey 2 in my Wii. After looking up my serial number online, I found out that my Wii has a GC2-D2B chipset and that my drive pins are most likely not cut.

Based on this information and what I have read at afterdawn, I feel that I may not need the v4c clip.

Is the V4C clip only for D2C and higher?

Kinda confused about this.
