Well, I was excited after just having Cloned my first DVD with DVD Clone. So, Says I, Lets do it again. Used DVD Decrypter to decrypt Harry Potter. Then openned up DVD shrink to shrink the file...Began shrinking and suddenly, moniter when to slightly angled blue and white bars and froze. Restarted computer only to get Windows message saying "unmountable_boot_volume" on a blue screen with options to restart again. Well, Followed that procedure only to end up at the blue screen again...Would not let me boot up Windows, So, Called Dell tech support. After two hours of this and that the tech finally got Windows to boot but Came up with "corrupt file alert" So, Now Dells is going to send me a new replacement hard drive and a tech to install it. So, My question is, DOes anyone know what the hell happened?

Dear friend it looks like your HDD just passed away. It is not a DVDShrink problem that caused the crash but your hardware just died. Due to its extensive use during encoding some bad cluster or bad sector appeared and it crashed. It also happened to me when i was moving files from one partition to another. It is just hardware problem and not software.

Hey Karateka, That may be why Dell ordered me another and plans to install it soon as it gets here. Funny thing is, I'm still doing normal computer stuff. Just installed Nascar racing 2003 and seems ok to this point..Thanks for the reply.

The reason your drive still works is because the bad-sector has been isolated (marked) and it is not accessed by the system, but Dell is obliged to send you a new one because HDDs with bad sectors are considered faulty hardware.

I'm thinkin' that if you could learn how to avoid having a piece of equipment you own, break on it's own, you would become richer than Bill Gates - lol

The only thing that you need to learn is that Sh*t happens :-)

Dell are very good about replacing things when they go wrong. Its always worth paying a bit extra for a dell if you arent technically gifted. Whereas im not technically gifted (got a degree in computers that doesnt help), but every so often i just change me motherboard, RAM, processor, HDD and graphics and its great.
