How do you fix this problem for rrod

I have an xbox with 1 red light on the 4th quadrant of the 'ring'.
The error code I see when I turn it on is E 74.
Also, when I opened the 360 it was full of dust.. but now its been dusted down.
I know the problem could be overheating, power supply or somethin to do with the motherboard interface but Im not sure what to do next.
How man I determin the exact problem with the code E 74?

Hey, personally never had any luck with the E74 error. Had around 7 of them come in for quotes this past week. Something to do with the processor that outputs the video signal. Best to send it off to M$.

oh thats freakin awesome considering I just broke the seal and landed up damaging the sticker taking it off.

Hey again, there must be someone in your area with some guarantee stickers. I keep them for people who have their consoles repaired or modded, in case something happens during the guarantee period. Just ask around here in Afterdawn.

just reflow the whole board, then xclamp with as5. Its the reflow that actually may fix it, the xclamp just helps from preventing it from happening again.

Thanks for that info, what do you mean by reflow then xclamp with as5?
I assume you dont mean to do the xclamp fix since it doesnt seem like the issue. But in other words are you sayin to basically take it appart and put everything back together?
Just need a little clarification, thanks.

Thats also good info I guess that will be my last resort if I cant fix this myself.

rocky, reflow means you heat the major components with a professional reflow/rework station until the solder just melts and then let it cool. it reconnects any cold solder joints. then perform the xclamp mod. as5 is artic silver 5. dont use a home depot heatgun because it may damage your mobo
