This is a much more powerful graphics card for very little extra:

The CPU is fine, it's not the fastest out there by any means, but it's cheap.
As for the motherboard and PSU:

Thank you Sammorris for the info.
So it'll be:
CPU: AMD 64 X2 6000
MEMORY: CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB)DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit
MOTHERBOARD: GIGABYTE GA-MA78G-DS3H AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G
PSU: Antec earthwatts EA380 380W ATX12V v2.0 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
VIDEO: SAPPHIRE 100265L Radeon HD 4830 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire

Sammorris, before i make the purchase, i have 2 questions
1. Regarding the power suppy, do you think this Antec 380W unit is enough to run this video card ( or perhaps a evga 9600gt SSC), a dvd rom and 2 HD and 3 fans?
2. Since you mention that is video is a bit more powerful than the 9600gt. i want to know you opion. my own system is a q6600 with a evga 9600gt SSC. Since this is my buy, which video is a better one, should i keep my current 9600gt or should i take this Saphire and give my nephew the evga 9600gt?

thank you sammorris

The HD4830 is around the region of 40-50% faster than the 9600GT. Get the 4830, and fob your nephew off with the 9600... ;-)

I run a similar system with that same power supply, so I know it is sufficient.
