I feel like a complete noob, I've gotten this far and I have no clue how to play ISOs.

I installed M3 firmware, IRshell, and PSPTube.

What do I need to do to boot ISOs?

Someone told me that I needed to hold R1 for a recovery menu at startup, but nothing happens?

Thanks for the help :]

On the root of your memory stick, looking from your computer, there should be a file named "ISO". If not, make one. Download an ISO and put it in the folder "ISO". Insert a umd and go onto the games section to start a game.

I don't have any UMD's :(

There's no way to do it without a UMD?

What do you mean you dont have any umd's, you dont need a umd to play the iso's. Check what firmware you are actually on by going to SETTINGS/SYSTEM SETTINGS/STSTEM INFORMATION and tell us what it says?

If you have no umds than

1. Turn your psp completely off
2. Turn on with holding R
3. While in recovery go to configuration than to umd mode
4. Set it to M33 Driver
5. Start an ISO

Score!

If your on 5.00 M33-3 all you need to do is start up the PSP normally.

When your at the XMB press the SELECT button and the vsh menu should come up.

Now press down on the D-Pad to UMD ISO MODE then press right on the D-Pad to SONY NP9660.

Then go to exit and exit out of the vsh menu.

You should be able to play the ISO game without a UMD now.

When you upgraded it to 5.00 M33-3, did you format your memory card because all of your folders would then be created so you know that your not missing any folders like the 'iso folder'.

If you havent then copy all of your files like your psp youtube, then format your psp by going to settings, system settings, then format psp. Then copy everything back (except the folders that you copied).

Now just put all of the iso or cso files in the iso folder, go to recovery mode or vshmenu (look at previouse comments how to get there), then put it on sony or m33driver, which i have it on m33driver and have no problems at all. Also have the homebrew on 1.50, then everything should be all good.

Why would you put the kernel on 1.5?

Please don't give out bad information. His kernel should remain on 5.XX unless said application NEEDS to be ran on 1.5. And there's not a single .iso/.cso that NEEDS to be on 1.5.

Sorry I didn't respond sooner.

Puppet198's recovery trick did it for me. However, i still can't boot ISO's from IRShell, it gives me a prompt that says "No UMD Present. Press any key to continue"

But that's okay I guess. :/

As for whoever asked what firmware I'm running, it's M3-3 v5.00.

Thanks guys. =]

I don't think IRShell has the option to play games without a UMD in the bay. So try putting a UMD in the bay and start the ISO game to play.

I don't have a UMD at all. Is it okay if it's a UMD movie? I'm trying to buy a cheap UMD >_>

I think all you need is a UMD Movie or Game.

I'm gonna be completely honest with you. You're making this WAY more difficult then it should be.

I know this may seem unreasonable...but do you really need iRShell THAT badly? I mean I've read how neat it is, but it's causing you a lot of problems.
Just remove it and run it with the regular XMB.

Remove iRShell, open VSH menu (select when at XMB), go down to UMD ISO MODE and set it to Sony NP9660. Play your games.

I'm really not trying to be a hard ass about this, but in short you should realize if an app is causing you this much difficulty it very well might not be worth using.

I understand what you're saying, and I'm already able to boot ISO's from XMB. I just wanted to be able to boot them from IRshell so that I could listen to music and take screen shots while playing :/

Also, there's no In-game XMB while using the regular XMB, whereas there is while using IRshell.

what version of IRShell are you using?

Evidently version 4.7 had some issues. 4.8 was supposed to fix these issues. If you have 4.7 then download 4.8 and merge the 4.7 and 4.8 together.

You will also need to go to IRSHELL/PATCH/5.00 and apply the btcnfpatch.

You then should be able to go into configurations and run the M33 or NP9660 NO UMD driver that will let you run the ISO's without a UMD.

I upgraded to 4.8, didn't know I have to go to the patch though. It works now, that's awesome. Ily <33

I downloaded the ISO's over CSO's because I read CSO's can be laggy. I have lots of space to work with, too..So im not too worried about it. :]

Woww, there's a nasty glitch with IRshell I just found. Load an ISO, then go back to the main menu without existing the ISO. Hold L+R and hit O for system restart while it's plugged into the charger, and your UMD reader freaks out. It makes a loud clicking noise, and if you open the UMD tray you can see it moving :x
