I'm new to the Wii system. I've read the threads relating to ripping Wii games. I haven't seen this issue through any thread yet. I bought the GDR-8163B and downloaded RawDump 2.0. While trying to "dump" the file, it shows it's downloading at 36MB/hr. Does it normally take that long? Is there anyway to speed it up a bit? I am running Vista (not sure if that has anything to do with it) and am trying to burn a copy of Mario Party 8. Any suggestions? Thank so much for all your help!

After waiting patiently for the file to "dump" now it shows an error....

This is what the details show...

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

It's a pretty "generic" error message that occurs whenever there is a read error.

Possible problems are:

1)Dirty disc (clean disc)
2)Scratched disc (try another copy)
3)Too many background processes interrupting the burn (in XP the solution is run in safe mode)
4)Dirty DVD-ROM lens (clean DVD-ROM lens)

I can't tell you how to resolve the specific problem in your system, but I was consistently getting this error on my XP system until I started running it in safe mode.

Yes, safe mode runs the slowest (approx. 4+ hours to rip), but accuracy is the important thing, not speed.

I haven't been able to get it to work with RawDump 2.0 so now I'm trying to use Friidump. It seemed to dump okay now I'm working on getting the Hack on my Wii to work to see if the disc I backed up is working okay... I will let ya know :)

ok! Result! What I did was this. Not sure how relevant some of it is but.......
1. Cleared off aload of files off my hard drive cause I only had about 10gb of space. Ended up with at least 20gb. Reason i did this was because the last time i had a succesful dump was when i had a lot more space.
2. Reinstalled net Framework 2.0 Restarted pc
3. And i think out of all the points...this is what did it. Cleaned the disc! I did this by huffing on the disc (just by doing this i could see the disc was dirty and looked patchy. Without huffing the disc appeared to be 'clean'...anyway huffed on the disc and then wiped with a kitchen towel (not tissue cause that creates small particles of tissue to stay on disc) from the centre of the disc outwards.
4. dumped disc sucessfully.
Now doing the second disc that i had problems with. let you know how i get on later.
Well its now the next day, and the 2nd disc dumped without any problems. Not sure which of the above points sorted the problem....but I'd certainly make sure the discs are flawless and wipe each one before inserting in to the dvd rom and waiting 2 hours before an error message pops its ugly head up!!
