Virgin try to stop people recieving channels illegally but why do people do this aparently virgin executives read this site so why are they doing it is over charging or is it that richard branson a british man is taking away britsh jobs where does the loyalty start and where does it end

I agree Virgin do on a grand scale over charge,
and what a nerve they have considering they have a very bad case of Tourettes Syndrome when it comes to repetative programes.
Mr Branson please don't forget what side ur bread is buttered on, ok so there are a high majotiry of people who "steal" channels but you to myself are the biggest "thief" of all,u hit people in the pocket if they disagree in giving you power over thier bank accounts by paying bills by DD and sorry to have to point out to you, your not doing a very good job of keeping up whith Jo-Blogs are you!
But hey thank god... this country AND it PUBLIC could have been in a WORSE situation had you won the take over proposal for the national lottery, you must have been rubbing your hands till the were alight with flames at the prospect of that one.
so now you see the gold and again you stand at the ready with you shovel.

i disagree with both you guys.
at the end f the day the people and programmes on tv and those that actually run the channels we "steal" need to get paid they also work hard and im assuming you guys work too? so its only fair you dig a few quid each week out of your pockets.

Then those people should vote with their cash and alter the bill removing the extra charge. If people stood up for themselves then companies wouldn't be able to get away with stunts like that

We can't have everything in life for free. Someone somewhere has to make money, how do you think we consumers end up with more than enough (free) choice; if we can't afford something then we make do with what we can afford. Stealing unpaid-for services (when there's plenty free choices available) is just plain stealing.
Unnecessary charges for direct debits/surcharges etc i will agreee with as being wrong.
I was born when there were less than half a dozen channels, and the only thing about tv charges is the typical British ripoff, ie the BBC tv license, that's something that only this country could get away with.
Had closed it because a whinge thread serves nothing but spread misery but i guess it can stay open for a while.
Don't be surprised when it goes closed again though, someone will no doubt post something that oversteps common sense.

That's crazy. VM are wrong to protect their business by ensuring that hardware illegally connected to THEIR network does not work? How naive can you be?.
First off this has nothing to do with Richard Branson or his Virgin group of companies. This is NTL who are operating under a leased VM brand done as a part of the deal when they purchased virgin mobile from Virgin.
To suggest that people use these boxes because of the cost is ridiculous. You can get more TV on Sky for less money so why not use that?
The simple fact id that people will take anything that they can get for as little outlay as they can. If VM dropped their prices by 50% tomorrow none of you would suddenly take up their offer if you have a box that does it for free.
The reason most people want it is so that they have access to PPV and pay sports channels and VM have little control over the pricing of those. VM could give away their TV tomorrow and you would still have to pay for any Sky channels.
If you have a gripe about prices direct it towards Sky. If you have a gripe about VM then direct it at them and not Richard Branson or the Virgin group.
If you have any gripe at all do some research before typing nonsense.
Edit:/ and for the record I have VM XL TV package with Sports and movies. I have XL broadband and Telephone with them. I also use 2 digiboxes to stream the TV to other rooms because I prefer not to pay extra rental. Unlike many of you, NTL/VM have had, and continue to get more than enough money from me. Having said that the fact that I have these boxes connected makes me a thief and a fraud. I'm just sensible enough to know exactly what I do and what this means.

Surely it's not Virgin Media or B Sky B that are to blame, but Her Majesty's Government. They tendered the sale of our airwaves to companies who were going to sell them back to us as well as advertisers! What they should have done was to make it a condition of the tender that any broadcaster who wanted to advertise on any particular channel at any time, could not charge a subscription for that channel. Also, that customers should have absolute control over what channels they received and not be forced into channel bundles, containing a bunch of unwanted channels just to get the one channel they did want. Even worse, to have to subscribe to a number of bundles, because the channels they wanted were split over multiple bundles!
Anyone who says this business model, i.e advertisers paying to provide free services to customers, doesn't work, excuse me, look at Google!
One word, O.K. several, in defence of the BBC licence fee, quite frankly, I think that it's a bargin, where else can you get access to programmes of the quality and breadth the BBC produces for what is it these days, £180 per annum? You'd have to pay SKY or Virgin Media at least douple that to receive Discovery, or National Geographic for example. The BBC is the envy of the broadcasting world and the benchmark by which every, EVERY, other broadcaster in the world is measured! Please, it's one of the few things in this Country that echo back to why we have the word "Great" in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and of which we can be proud! Ever been abroad, and I'm not talking about Spain and watching SKY on TV, and heard on a radio in the distance "This is the BBC World Service"? Don't tell me that doesn't make you feel proud to be British! I for one am happy to pay the licence fee to keep it that way!
If anyone is to blame for rip of Britain, don't look to companies, look to Downing Street! Oh and anyone saying we have the power to vote them out....WRONG! We only have the power to vote IN, another bunch of useless corrupt idiots who couldn't manage a w*nk, let alone a country!!!

don't look to mr brown for a way out he never dictated these charges, he never said if you want a channel you have to accept 15 others. he sets taxes not virgin (NTL or whoem ever) rates, they did that themselves.
Why did virgin media get sky channels back
lets put it this way a deal is a deal and they are cashing in
