Will I be able to downgrade to CFW and play backed up isos without an extra battery and Majic Memory later on. I know that the 5.02 is new so I will have to wait, but will I ultimately NEED to make/buy the extra battery/ms or can I make do with a phat PSP, a cable, and a normal 2 gb Memory?

You will need a Magic Memory Stick + Pandora Battery to install custom firmware so you can play ISO files.
