in a nutshell, yeah. Plus 1.5 will have a new firmware developed for the liteon (when it comes out, which is looking like it will be very soon hopefully).

LOL, there's no such thing as a "security update." You, me and everyone else will suffer the same ban fate at the end whether the new firmware is *Super-iXtreme* The most 1.5 firmware will do is offer support for the Lite-On drive. I never really looked at any of these hacked firmwares as anything other than a way to succesfully play back-ups. Microsoft is more nosy than allot of people think and know. Microsoft will always have the trump card up their sleeve with the 360 and definitely Xbox720.

by security update i meant it was more safe that the current firmware. Not that we would magically be able to not get caught at all.

every update is for a reason, hence it is slightly safer than the previous firmware.
Also, new news from c4eva if you have spoofed a drive as a liteon, is that it could be EASILY detected by Microsoft (even if you have a BENQ). I guess there are some liteon specific commands which should be able to be run, but can't be currently.
He said that in his 1.5 firmware, it will be able to account for that.
Just a warning to all you who have a drive spoofing the liteon.

do you understand the firmware ? now that i have read into it a lot further i'm understanding it as i don't use XBL i need not worry about security,but if you are an XBL player i highly recommend you uodate your firmware to stealth :)
I have been informed by an excellent source that the lite-on was designed to not be hacked and voila...after a lot of painstaking hours and testing it is now possible...so as the old saying goes "nothing is impossible" if someone wrote the code for it...someone else can re-write a code to overide :) simple

Quick question, I have someone lined up to replace my liteon with a brandnew benq drive, he has quoted to do the key extraction and the spoofing. im prepared to wait for this 1.5 version and be able to keep the liteon drive BUT will the job of upgrading the liteon firmware be a simple job for an experienced modder as soon as the firmware is released, or is there going to be a whole new skill set to learn?

how do u know it will released before christmas of this year? ceva4 does not say anything about it being released before christmas. so why do u sound so sure?
