I have one last question before I officially buy the xtractor or maybe the ck3...
They both have a free SATA and USB cables but if i buy the xtractor i want to buy the Spear and i was wondering if the xtractor with the spear comes with everything you need to flash a 360.
Same question about the ck3...
if I buy the pro, does it include everything i need to flash a 360?
or do i need to buy accessories for the computer like a SATA chipset or anything else....
i gotta know if on December 24th or 25th when I'm getting ready to flash the drive; what materials ExactlY do i have layed out on my desk in order to it...
thanks to everyone in advance, this community has been a great help to my questions

yes you need a sata device prefferable with a proven via chipset,
you also need a box of tissues, a nickel, a car battery, and some extra strenth tylenol.

well it was better when there was speculation but now that they've given a specific date ... christmas eve. . . . there's really not much more to say...
personally i'm not happy with this release date... i wont even be in town on christmas eve... it would suit me much more to have it say ... tomorrow.

Sheesh.. not happy there's no ETA and not happy with an ETA. This is probably why God doesn't tell us when the world is going to end.
I'm just unhappy my 360 is not the media center I hoped it would be. What a waste.

well like i have stated it hasn't anything to do with the firmware,thats all good.You ask how M$ are getting info,well like i also stated i believe they are reading your HDD which to a certain degreee is married to your motherboard as well....now i am like fgamer....i have no proof of this,it's a theory..or if you like an open minded suggestion,anyrate back to your original question..about M$ getting info...most likely violating their own ToS and most countries prviacy laws and tapping into the 360's HDD...my thoughts/theories only.and no i can't back them up....can someone verify if my thoughts or theory on this is possible by M$ ?
The HDD is just a memory unit (A very big memory card) and can be used in any xbox, it does not have to be used with certain motherboards / xbox systems. You can take your hard drive out of a banned console and put it in another console without problems and use it on xbox live fine.

So in the video it says they dont modify the firmware at all? just silicon the chip on. So the liteon is going to be a lot safer online?

that's not what was said. There was a chip shown in the video, but the point of that was to show the chip MS tried to use to prevent the modification of the firmware, and the next pic shown was that chip decapped in acid, which is how the firmware was dumped, and then a hacked version created.
So now, you will not need to modify the chip, and you can flash via sata.

Awesomeness. I have been putting off getting a 360 until the lite-on was broken, and it looks like I can treat myself this christmas!
My only question is this...To do the lite-on flash, will I have to purchase the connectivity kit to find the drive key, or will it be as simple as the older drives where I simply need a SATA cable and a PC? I know a lot of this is unclear at this point, and this might not be known, but I cannot see a reason that I would need a the key since I will not be spoofing the drive.

My quetion is almost the sameI have my liteon key as ive had a benq put in so will the 1.5 firmware come with its own flashing programme or do i need to find that? then its as simple as connecting the liteon to a sata card and using the key file putting the new firmware in and then installing the liteon back into the console?

guys, read through the thread, these questions have been answered.
TO get the key, you will either have to purchase the xtractor with spear, or the ck3 with probe, unless you want to solder on the drive. You can use solder, and if you go that route, you will not need to purchase that hardware. But currently, you will not be able to just read off your key via sata (like the other drives). However, you will be able to flash the liteon via sata.

Thanks. I was not sure if this new method of flashing led to a discovery of a way to read the key without the use of other hardware or not. But even so, it's simple enough to do the solder method! Thanks again.

Thanks for the video link. Very cool. Hopefully my ck3 probe arrives before 1.5 release.
Yeah, opening IC's is not for your average home hacker. Very impressive. Firmware hacking is seriously hard shit.
For who mentioned it, I looked up "Popcorn Hour" media player. It's pretty sweet for what $250 gets you. But I already spent $450 on my Elite, explaining to my wife it will eventually be our media center. Doh!

I have 4 questions and i hope some of you can give me some answers....
(1)
I was wondering if the new Ixtreme firmware allows you to play (backup) games from the HDD without inserting the copied DVD disc? (i have no experience with a modded 360)
(2)
I read all the question and answers on the forum but i was also wondering how safe the new firmware will be on XBL? In some posts people say that all security checks by MS for XBL are eliminated in the new Ixtreme. If this is true than i assume it would be safe to go on XBL. Is MS then only able to detect the hack if they let you install a new dashboard or something like this? Or does MS install a new security check without any notice? Of course, i understand that MS will detect you if you play games that are not officially released.

Currently the 360 does not support subtitles for DIVX/XVID (which is a shame, even low budget DVD players support this for many years now). Suppose i get banned from XBL and MS offers an update for the 360 that allows subtitle playback. Is it possible to get the update although you are banned from XBL?

1) No, and there likely will never be a way to play games directly from the hard drive w/o the disc in.
2)c4eva has claimed the new 1.5 firmware will provide more security as far as being detected by MS. However, any modification to your 360 puts you at risk for being banned by MS. There are no guarantees, you are always taking a risk.
3)People who do not have a Xbox Live account (or are banned) are able to download updates from their computers, burn them to CDs, and install them on their 360s. Does this apply to every future update? I have no idea, maybe another member can help you with that.
4) I have never heard anything remotely similar to this and I've been following the 360 scene for almost a year now. Personally, I would take that with a grain of salt, but if anyone would like to provide proof, I have an open mind.

Fo you number Four question, that is not possible. In order for that to be possible, people would need to be able to run unsigned code on the xbox 360, and that is not possible right now. There were only two kernel versions that were vulnerable, but that was a while ago.
So currently, they are lying on that aspect because if we could run unsigned code on the 360, then there would be homebrew on it.

Also, what were the issues with people that are still getting banned with 1.41/1.4 ... was it still kreon rips(yes i know disc jitter in 1.4/1.41 was suppose to resolve that issue) and can anybody enlighten me on "bad angle"

that log appears to be a fake as c4eva doesn't always talk like that,guesswho maybe able to help you out on that one :) i see him/her in fw a bit but never hangs around a lot and i would love to know where he got that log from as it doesn'took like a pastebin log or a tinyurl and iv'e been in fw for quite sometime now and never saw that discussion ....maybe i missed it...don't know.

Sorry, but that log isn't fake. You saw you are in the #fw channel? I'm guessing not. Because if you were, you would know that they update the topic of the channel, with the latest logs from c4eva himself. And within those logs is exactly where I got that last quote. ALso, since you are a "frequenter", you should then know that there is more than that one room to get important info like that from.
