I am in the market for a new memory stick pro to go with my soon to be purchased PSP (hacked to be able to boot games off of a memory stick).

I own a DS, and chose my SD card from a list of usable cards on a wiki. Certain SD cards do not work with the DS, and some are not fast enough. Is there any info like that for memory sticks for the PSP?

Assuming that the below listed memory sticks are compatible, and will work with my PSP, I am considering purchasing one of them

SanDisk 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Card
SDMSPD8192A11

Sony 8GB Memory Stick PRO Duo
MSXM8GS

Sony 4GB Mark 2 Memory Stick PRO Duo Card
MSMT4G

SanDisk 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo
SDMSPD4096A10

Would these four units work for me? If not, can anyone suggest a good memory stick? Any other factors that I should be considering in my purchase?

According to the last time i saw a survey done on the comparison of sony vs sandisk, sandisk came out slightly ahead for data transfer and load speeds. This was over a year ago though.

Do speeds actually matter when playing games on your PSP from a memory stick?

So, does anyone have any suggestions on what memory stick to get?

So, does anyone have any suggestions on which memory sticks work? Any recommendations on which one to go with, or a guide that confirms working and non-working (if there is such a thing) memory sticks would be really appreciated. I don't want to spend $50 on something that ends up not working.

Each one of those sticks will work well and you'd probably never notice the slightest difference in performance between them.

The sandisk will possibly have a quicker transfer rate but unless your really impatient it will make minimal time difference.

Thanks. I was mainly worried about whether the cards would actually work or not.

I guess that the DS is a whole different beast. Many cards flat out do not work with it. Good to hear that the PSP doesn't have the same problem.

Personally I have about four cards marked Sony (2gb - 4gb), none register as Magicgate, so I assume they are all fakes. I also have a small genuine 1gb Sandisk.

Never had a problem with any of them or even a micro SD to Pro Duo adapter I use with a 4gb transflash card.

Each one performs much the same, except for transfer times of a few minutes difference.

If your sticking with genuine Pro Duo's you'll definitely be OK.

I would go with a micrsoSD card using a pro duo adapter. The read/write times are a bit slower compared to the pro duo counterparts, but the price difference justifies the purchase.

svtstang: It looks like the prices for micro sd cards by themselves are quite low. $10 or so for a 4gig. Unbelievable really. I couldn't see any that had a memory stick adapter though. I really have no need for one at the moment though, and I figure that for $20 I can have a 4GB memory stick which is the right tool for the job, so that is probably the route I should take. Thanks for the advice though.
