Need Wii Help - Backup loader or Wiigators?

It has alot of things on the download that I will never use, like the emulators. So i was wondering what files can be deleted for me to keep my wii hacked? Or should i use the Backup loader instead of wiigators backup loader?

Also I will be connecting my wii to the internet after i have done this, and i heard that the first time it connects, it will update my wii :( Is this true, and will my wii still be able to play backed up games?

Any help appreciated!

Once you get everything set up all you will need is the homebrew channel + Wiigator 0.3 gamma bootloader.

Right now the Wiigator 0.3 gamma is the most compatible bootloader out there so I recommend using it.

As for the automatic Wii updating. With 3.3 firmware and below you have the option to update the Wii or cancel the update. The new 3.4 firmware user agreement (if you accept) gives Nintendo the right to automatically update your Wii without notifying you.

So all of this really depends on what firmware your Wii system has.

Hi, usefull response :)
My wii was purchased on the 11th of october 2008, and the 3.3 update was on the 23rd October? So i would have 3.2? or is there something in between

Either you have a 3.2 or you have a first 3.3 version that didn't block WAD/cIOS files from being installed (do not update the Wii).

So all you will need to do is install the Homebrew Channel.

You can get the files HERE.

You will need to download 3.3 and earlier: twilight-hack-v0.1-beta1.zip and the_homebrew_channel-beta_9.tar.gz files from the above linked page.

Read the read me file included in the the_homebrew_channel-beta_9.tar.gz to guide you through the instillation of the homebrew channel.

Once you have installed the homebrew channel format your SD CARD and download this file HERE (this is the Wiigator 0.3 gamma instillation files).

After you download the file extract it and transfer all folders inside the Boot Loader Gamma folder to the root of the SD CARD (transfer the folders inside the boot loader gamma folder not the boot loader gamma folder itself).

Now insert the SD CARD into your Wii system and boot the homebrew channel. Run the cIOS application listed in the homebrew channel menu to install the cIOS. Just follow the on screen instructions that the cIOS installer gives.

After you have installed the cIOS you can boot your backups via the Wiigator Gamma via the homebrew channel menu.

The gamma version uses 1:1 backup copies (you had to patch the backup game disc with the first backup launcher version but you do not need to do this with the gamma version).

After you have installed the cIOS you can delete the 00000001 folder and the cIOS_Installer249 folder which is located in the apps folder.
