Greetings,

Has anyone ever used the Homebreware software before? Thinking of plopping down the $29 but wanted to see if anyone has any good or bad experiences with this before. Thought about using that Twilight mod, but I don't know if I can get access to that Zelda game. Total newbie to the Wii and to this forum, so apologies in advance if my is inappropriate. Thanks for your responses!!!

According to their website,
Quote:
HomebreWare is software that enables your Nintendo Wii Console to run Homebrew Applications, more over it enables the ability of your Wii Console to play DVD movies, and finally run Import and Backup Games.

Certain homebrew applications called emulators which come bundled with HomebreWare will give you an opportunity to play classic games from retro consoles such as N64, SNES, Sega Genesis and many more.

The most extraordinary feature that comes from HomebreWare is the ability to play backup and imported games without mod chip or anything else that might void your warranty.

Everything about this is screaming "scam" to me. More likely than not they just bundled a bunch of homebrew apps together and are trying to sell them.

As evidence I point out that the ONLY way to boot any kind of homebrew or unoffical software a wii with firmware 3.3 or later is via the twilight hack or homebrew channel, which of course can only be installed via the twilight hack. I'd be willing to bet that one of the steps for this Homebreware thing is getting a copy of zelda and running the hack.

Twilight princess is pretty easy to get ahold of. You can probably find it in a used game bin somewhere for less than this Homebreware software.

NO!

This person is simply selling the Twilight Hack and Homebrew channel, which can all be obtained for FREE from http://hbc.hackmii.com/download/

If any of you are wondering as I did whether the criticisms about Homebreware are true especially as there is no indication of whether any posters actually had tried the package. Here's what I found out.

Homebreware package contains the free Homebrew Channel, Backup Channel (and the cIOS code needed by Backup Channel). The code packaged contains all the functionality described in their marketing but is not written by them and is available for free download elsewhere. One of the authors has his own website, which discusses how Homebreware is not licensed to redistribute it, http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=120422.

However, what they purport to sell is a simplified guide that takes you through all the steps necessary to install that software on your Wii.

I have had pretty good luck with HomebreWare.

It basically includes all the needed files, simplified instructions, 24/7 support, and Wii game downloads as well as homebrew downloads.

I have pretty much mainly used it to play import and backup games without a mod chip, and it works great for that!

They have a decent overview of what's included at: Nintendo Wii Homebrew Unlock Hack Guide

mate, most of the people here don't even used homebreware..most of us used the free guide and help one another how to hack the Wii without buying the guide which you can find it here FREE...

What you asking you can find it just by using google or search.

Homebreware don't develop any software they just collect and compile a guide which you can find it for free..which I think it is a RIP off...
