Look here if you are stuck on "on" after THE BOX new Firmware

Right then Folks, stay with me on this one because Ive now got the shakes from lack of Food, still aint had my dinner yet...
Right then, after I flashed with the new firmware for 'the Box', I hooked it back up and all I was getting was Blank screen on TV and "on" on my Box.
Frustration kicking in, mrs Moaning we got no TV because we have no other Ariel (it fell off the roof)..
So I take it back upstairs, I must have been at it for at least an Hour, Basically I was flashing OK but I was assuming when the flash is applied and your box then restarts then goes back onto the channel you last viewed in the Display on the Box...Well Mine just said "ON" so I came down, tried again but still nothing, Blank screen and the frigging "ON" on the box display...
Disconnect again and took it upstairs (felt like I was doing BodyPump up and down) then hooked it up to my Pc again, this time reverted back to firmware 451e.....Back down again, fired it up...blank TV still and (yes you got it) "ON"...aarrrgggghhh!! If my head wasnt shaved already, I would have been bold by now..
soooooo Upstairs again....Hooked it up, Put the Newest firmware back on, still no joy, Box display still said "on", dont forget I was assuming the box would go back to 0003 (the channel I left it on because Im sure it used to do that after any other flash)..
So I began digging around and found the LOGO file...downloaded that to my box, Unhooked.....downstair, hooked up..Box display still had "ON" but hoooorrayyyy my TV said "installation"
Pressed the usual, English, Install etc and now Im finally back up and running, Better EPG aswell defo, seem alot quicker unless its just my joy overtaking.
So Folks, Im not sure which firmware I had on before but just try this first..
Put the newest firmware on then Download the LOGO file from the library, Download that to your Box and you should be cool.
Let me know if it works for you aswell anyone.
Sorry for the Essay, just thought id see if I could help.
one thing thats done my head in though, Before I did the update, I made sure I saved my channel dump, after all the messing about and finally getting it working, I cant get my channel dump to apply, all it does now is like factory sets it so when your switching it on thinking your channels are going to be in order...Nope...its fresh installation.
Going to have another go tomorrow though.
Gotta get my dinner, Im waaasstttinggg awayyyyy!!!

Hmmm, Im sure Ive mentioned "the Box" in my Essay......(scratches head)

rarrtoot thats one of the best posts i have seen on here for a while, top marks for taking the time and effort to posts it, sounds like you now need about 24 hrs in you kip to recover.

hi if anyone is having trouble and the box says on revert back to 4.51 after logo file has been downloaded and the back to latest firmware. this works tried it on 2 st*rview boxes now.

on the guide it says download new firmware then logo file, then the new 802 file, but are you saying it's just the new firmware and the logo file you need? I see the 4.54 file, logo file and the 802 file, appreciate any help

I was up for atleast an hr whilst in Bed putting my channels back in Order. All sorted now though.

Thanks for that raartoot...found the answer i was looking for..it looks like a genuine..cos it has 25x7 vents on top and the scart is also on the right looking from the front.

Are you definately checking the Background Data File box this is the procedure and a little patience is needed flash on the 4.54 first App File Only box checked, then The LOGO file Background Data File box checked, and then the 8.02 fix bin file App File Only checked again, take your time and think about it, and wait for the pop up box DOWNLOAD COMPLETE to appear, each time before removing or doing anything else, it seems a long time, but be

hi malci got it done only took me 6 hours. was using the old 4.0 gtrloader changed to the new gtrloader 4.03 and all went well, so girls and guys if you flashed the new firmware for the starview the box from v4.1 and your box says on and you have a blank screen, what i did was put the 4.1 firmware back on then the 4.54 firmware then the logo file but you must tick the background data file in the gtrloader 4.03, then the new firmware 8.02, when downloading firmware for above wait till download complete pops up at the end of every download, thanks to all at afterdawn keep up the good work

LOL that is all in the instructions for updating - didn't know you where using the GTRom 4!!!!!!!! you have had to use the V4.03 on anything above the 4.51 Firmware (to do it correctly) anyway, but now there is an easier way to update with the UK fix and it is in Eamo's FTA Library as of early today, glad your sorted anyway.
