Thanks to everyone, my box is now working.
Just one thing, could someone point me in the right direction to download an app that will allow me to organise the channels? they're all in a messed up order.

Flashed V4.54
Then The Logo File (Background Data File)
Then the fix
Then it was done :) Like i said previously, after trying to flash it on standby a few times nothing was happening, just kept getting "flash update fail"
So i turned the box off for a while, turned it on again and almost immediately clicked download on the GTrom software, and then everything started to download and work...
trying again as we speak.....you did do it the same as me, but a 5th time wont harm :) will post again soon with results :)

Help help help,
same again, flashes take and complete ok, but when u turn box on I am getting stuck at the letter O of the word on. 4 bars then the letter O but no letter n. Normally its 4 bars the letter O the letter n then it starts? I have now tried this 6 times. Always same result.

before it says on i click on download. if i try to wait till its on it does not work :), gonna re-download the files in case flash file i got corrupted (unlikely but trying everything :)

megcam, i first tried it on standby a few times no joy, so then i turned the box off started the download in GTrom, and then switched the box on after about 15seconds, did this method a couple of times, and all i got was download to 10% then "flash update fail" so i turned the box off for about 20mins, then switched it back on, left it at that and then clicked download (after about 10 seconds of turning the box on) and flashed the files, and they started to work and % bar was increasing... So keep trying! Try flash it as recommended on standby, if not turn it off for a while and do i what i said in this post.
Dreadly i have no idea mate, you;ve got it to flash, but then you have problems after, need one of the experts to answer this for you

OK, so i am now going to flash with the origonal 4.51 that i had , have also downloaded the fix again (after deleting my old one from the p.c.) in case it was a corrupt file and will now try again meaning that i will flash with 4.51, then 4.54, then the logo then the fix lol. Personally i think the prob is with the logo flash as at when it completes the box does not go into standby but bars just keep rolling. However will try everything and see how it goes, will post again with the results :)

tried it with another box,i flashed with 4.54 at end of which i got flash burning then download complete,then i did the logo(didnt get a flash burning message) then i used gtrom super 8.023 im still getting flashing failed

Did you read the Notepad prior to flashing??
PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE TRYING TO UPDATE THE STARVIEW 2THEBOX
THIS IS THE NEW RELEASED FIRMWARE FOR THE BOX 2 WITH THE FIX FOR THE UK
OK PEEPS THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO DO FIRST CHECK WHAT FIRMWARE YOU HAVE ON YOUR BOX
SYSTEM INFO API VERSION ******
IF YOU HAVE V4.51 ON IT YOU FIRST NEED TO FLASH THE V4.54 ON
THEN THELOGO FILE WHICH HAS TO BE TICKED WHEN LOADING AS BACKGROUND FILE
THEN THE NEW 802 FILE AND IT WILL WORK

Dreadly, made a typo error earlier, as Des has said, there is a full service pack with the update and as I posted on another thread this is what you must do, Leave the box ON - not Standby OK you have the 4.51 on your SV2 so from there >>>>>>>>
First flash thebox_454eE_api.bin to your box with the new GTRom.4.3
(select as App file only) box checked
Then flash thebox_logobg.bin to your box using the new GTRom.4.3
(select Background Data File) box checked
Then flash with the 802 BIN FILE using the same loader
(Select App File only) box checked

What have you tried moh, if you referring to and are flashing the Starview 2, The Box then there is another easier way, if you are currently running the 4.51 firmware on your box, you can now just flash straight up to 4.55 firmware but you must use the GTRom 4.03, you will find it in Eamo's FTA Library at the bottom of mt post.

No afraid not, and it does not look promising either, so you will have to carry on with manual input at the minute anyhow, sorry.
All updates will eventually be announced here as and when scOuser puts them in Eamo's FTA Library >>>>>>>>>

What are you using, a NULL MODEM lead or a combination of USB and NULL MODEM lead, you need to check that you definately do have a NULL MODEM lead and not a straight through serial lead, they both look very similar, have you used the lead for flashing before, and go to here to compare. >>>>>>>>>

Yep you could, now the common problem with the USB adaptor is that it does not get correctly assigned to the correct COMM port and consequently you do not get the job done, but I think in your case that it could be the NULL MODEM lead might not be the correct one, but just check here for dooby's guide and look at it carefully, follow it and then delete the firmware you have on your PC and download it ahain from Eamo's FTA Library before trying again. >>>>>>>>>>

reading the box book it says the cable is rs232 serial so i have the wrong cable

Give it another go with new firmware. all the suppliers call it simply an RS232 lead, so it might be correct they are not all wrong leads s that are supplied with box's. If you are sure that is, that the Adaptor is correctly assigned to COMM port and you have that same COMM port showing in the loader.
