I'm looking at selling my Wii to someone that has no use for the chip that is in it and I'm wondering if there is a way to disable the wiikey without taking it apart again and removing the chip? The chip has been great but I don't want to sell it to someone and then the big N come out with a firmware update that bricks the Wii or something. Can it be done? I searched and couldn't come up with anything definitive. Thanks in advance.

No way to do it without opening it up.

You can open it up and cut the power and ground wires.

When SSBB came out everyone was killing the wiikeys to play the game. I dont remember how it was done maybe by using an older wiikey firmware... It is somewhere in the MASSIVE SSBB thread.
