Should I Use The Twilight Hack ?

I have been looking at the guide to using the Twilight Hack on this forum, and I just wanted to know how safe it is before I go and try it myself.
I would like to know:
Has anyone had problems when SoftModing their WII?
Can It damage my WII?
Can I get caught is I connect the WII to the internet?

Yes, LOTS of people have had trouble getting the softmod to work. However, nearly all of them were because they did not properly follow the directions.

Anytime you mess with the wii's firmware theres a chance of damaging it. Again though, if you follow the directions the chances of it going wrong are very low.

As of yet, nintendo still has no way of catching modded consoles online. That covers all modding methods. Softmodded and all forms of modchips.

I havnt actually get my WII yet, I ordered yesterday and it I should recieve it in the next 3 days.
How does firmware effect playing backed-up games?

If you have the first version 3.3 firmware and below then it is only a few steps to get the backup launcher going.

If it is 3.3 firmware after Oct 23rd and above then there is a few more steps you have to do.

The Oct 23rd 3.3 update and 3.4 update blocks WAD/cIOS files from being installed. So there are a few more steps you will need to take so you can install WAD/cIOS on the system.

You would be best to wait till you get your Wii System and find out what firmware you have. Make sure you do not update it to latest firmware.

So if I get firmware 3.3 I should stop my WII from installing any updates?

Are there any disadvatages to not updating, are updates required to play some games?
