Strange issues concerning the 3.3 Wii update

I have updated my Wii to the 3.3 System Menu. Since I have already installed Homebrew Channel at this point and that the 3.3 update does not delete it, I was okay. So I updated, everything was fine; the homebrew channel was still there. However, when I tried to run Super Smash Bros Brawl in the Disc Channel after the update, I get an error. Additionally, when I tried to load it in the Gecko OS application in the homebrew channel, my Wii seems to freeze, and the game worked before the update.

So I thought, maybe the gecko OS is having problems? So I tested this with another game (Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World), and it worked, in both the Disc Channel and the homebrew channel. What is wrong with SSBB? If it matters, the media that I'm storing my SSBB in is a Philips DL DVD+R 8x speed.
