I?ve been searching the forums and reading reviews from different sites but I still can't seem to get concrete answers to a few questions I have.

I have a 4:3 1080i tv and a few people claim that when using component cables the 360 automatically stretches the picture to eliminate the black bars that come with widescreen images. This effectively crops the sides of the screen is this true?

I?ve been looking for a suitable optical audio cable, I know they are basically all the same but I'm more concerned about how secure the connections will be. Many people claim that a number of different brands simply don't connect properly and fall out given the slightest touch. The 6ft cables won't be long enough to reach my receiver, I can't seem to find an 8ft and I really don't need a 12. Is there a specific brand I should get? (I know there are several brands that claim to be made for xbox 360 and many of those are the ones that received bad reviews in regard to the cables not fitting tightly).
