if you are swapping the drives, which it sounds like you are trying to do, onto a new motherboard, you have to go through a drive swapping process. There are a some threads, so search for "drive swapping".
thanks for the quick response guesswho i did look at some posts but the only problem im seeing is that i dont have the drive that goes with the mobo does that mean im screwed without the original drive?
the dvd drive is mated to the motherboard, you need your drive key to swap drives. Unless the motherboard you got came with a disc of some sort with an original firmware dump from the dvd drive, you are screwed.
There is another method but it is way too advanced for most people. Im not sure where you got the motherboard from , but you can see if they have the drive key for that motherboard.
thanks for the response eric can you give me a link to the advance method that looks like my only choice if not then im screwed cause i got the mobo from a friend who just has 360 parts since my old 360 had the famous rrod i figured ill just put my old drive on the new mobo guess its not that easy huh. my friend dosent have the original drive.
My apologies for getting your hope up, I thought you could use the infectus chip to get the key from the MOBO, but apparently you need a working dvd drive, and you dont have that. What was wrong with the original mobo where you got your dvd drive from?
so theres absolutely no way huh what a waste of a brand new mobo damn so i am screwed now i need to waste $200 more on a new 360 which i didnt want to do i smahed my old no use to me any more.
