about 4 months ago i got the dreaded rrod. the secondary code at that time was 0022. i went ahead did lawdawg's x-clamp fix. and everything worked fine. 'til now, i've got the rrod again but this time the secondary code now is 0103. so my question is, should i just repeat the process, by redoing the silver compound and overheating the chips again? or is there another method i should try. any help would be appreciated.

you should "reflow" all major components on the board and you will probally never get the rrod again, at least not for cold solder joints. reflowing cannot be done properly with a hardware store bought heat gun. you need a commercial quality reflow/rework station with the proper size nozzles or in the case of infrared, the right light profile. PM me if you want me reflow your board.
