Hello it's been a long time since ive been on this site or touched my psp so i have a few questions.
I'm very confused with all of this pandora battery stuff and what the purpose of it is. Also with the psn store.
I just want to know what the newest custom firmware is and some guidance as to where to get it and how to install it.
I am currently running firmware 3.40 OE-A. I guess this is a little bit out dated. Is there a way to get newer firmware without having to open up the psp.
If memory serves, it's actually a matter of the model.
Anything past a certain firmware (don't have the exact one) requires a jigkick battery (also known as a pandora battery) and a magic memory stick in order to get the CFW onto the psp.
There's GOBS of tutorials and explanations on this site and others so a full explanation from me or anyone else on this post would be very redundant.
being you're currently running custom firmware you should be able to do a an update straight to 5.00 M33-4 without the need of the above mentioned items.
Download this file and follow the instructions to get your current firmware up to 5.00 m33-4.
i Have been reading up about it and i have seen lots of tutorials like you said. If i do go to the 5.00 cfw well that allow me to play the .iso and .cso files aswell as the other homebrew.
I'm asking this because i do not want to upgrade to a cfw that i will have to use the pandora method to change it in the future.
Is the 5.00 version the best to use provided that i can change it to any one i want now from the cfw i am currently using without the use of the pandora method.
The ONLY time you need a jigkick (pandora) battery is from the initial OFW to CFW switch over. Aka when you get a psp and need to put CFW on there for the first time.
From there on out whenever you have custom firmware you just download the files and update them like normal. It's as easy as starting up a game.
Being you already have CFW on your psp already the ONLY time you'd ever need to think about a pandora is if you brick your psp. (brick means the OS files get corrupted and it doesn't operate anymore)
Even then there's 1 other option that can possibly fix a semi-brick other than using a pandora.
Also, dont be scared of converting a battery. It's really easy to do ;) I was scared my first time but I read lots of posts and watched a handful of videos on youtube and it made me feel a hell of a lot more comfortable. Since then I've made about 7 or 8 successful conversions from pandora and back to normal with a 100% success rate. :-D It's just a matter of patience. Making one quickly yet safely takes around 5-10 min (for myself at least...i think i make them in a decent amount of time). People who wanna just bust it open, cut the wire and throw it back together are the ones who usually find themselves with fried batteries.
my cfw is now 3.52 m33-4 in the tutorial i am using it says to run the 5.00 update but when i do it says it is not available and asks if i want to download from the internet. Do i have to do this. Or is there anoter way because i do not have wireless internet here.
