How to stream video from PC to Wii, without upgrading firmware?

I read about using opera browser and orb to stream video from my PC to my TV via wii. When I go to the wii channel it wants me to update my firmware. I've read conflicting issues on the upgrades (some say OK some say no). Any suggestions??

I currently have ver3.2U and am using a D2Ckey(I think, its the one with 30+ wires). thanks

After further readings I decided upgrading my firmware is a bad idea. Is there any way to get opera or homebrew channel on my wii? Maybe saving the file to my SD card? or should I upgrade, get opera browser, then downgrade??? I dont want to spend extra money on a another device to stream video. Thanks in advance.

I got a couple games and opera before I downgraded my firmware. Not sure if you can upgrade now without bricking your wii.

you could use the wad installer and find a download for the opera channel that may work of course you have to have the homebrew channel

Would upgrading firmware using a D2Ckey brick my wii?? I read that 3.4 will only prevent running homebrew, like GCOS emulator???

can I get the homebrew channel somehow, without upgrading firmware?

Thanks for the help, I'm starting to think my problem is unsolvable.
Let me know if you guys got any other ideas.

I'm not familiar with D2CKey but my understanding is that it is simply a modchip that allows you to play backups. This wouldn't allow you to upgrade to 3.4 unless there is a workaround in their code somehow.

I upgraded from 3.1 to 3.2 awhile back, with Super Mario Galaxy and had no problems. Is the 3.4 update different?
