It is almost certainly your standalone player that is at fault and nothing on your PC. You should get the player serviced - hopefully it is still under guarantee?

If the disc plays fine on your Computer then it is the DVD standalone player. I had a similar problem with a Thomson player once and thought it was the disc but it was the player - took it back and got it fixed.

Not all DVD burners are a like some you need the DVD-R to burn the frist copy and some like my TDK you will need DVD+R for the frist copy. Then you can use the other for the making of copys or the copys

devil60,

Please think and research before you post - it's most *disconcerting and counterproductive -

hi pedders, it might help to save discs if you use cd-rw's while your trying out various burn's, then when your happy with results burn cd-r, if not just erase it and start again..

pedders,

Good Guy, I just re-read your post -
Quote:

If you're burning avi's and mpg's to your DVD's it sure is going to make a difference to your standalone player -

Have you considered converting your .avi's to .vob's ??

(or did I read it wrong and miss something ??)

Pete

I think I may have misled watching my downloaded films whether AVI or mpg are fine through the pc from the hard drive. The problem is after I have burned to disk using dvd-r when I play dvd in player after 30mins or so audio is out of synch. When I play the dvd in the pc it is the same.So I am therefore thinking I have a burning problem or...?? something else. Please help ....thanks

pedders,

OK, I've got it now -

The files on your PC play just fine PRIOR to burning, AFTER burning, no matter what you play your DVD on, after 30 minutes you experience out-of synch audio with the picture -

Sounds like something between File and burn -

Question, is it possible that you are experiencing out-of-synch before your 30 minute mark and about then it really becomes noticeable OR is it fine and just "jumps" out-of-synch about 30 minutes into the disc ?
