I bought this solderless extractor for $35 shipped... a lot cheaper than the CK3 or 360 xtractor:

and I have written up a tutorial here:

check the back of your PC, if you have a COM port than you do not need the usb to com. most old pcs have COM port. some newer pcs do not have it.

brisk.. why wouldn't you just reccomend the new CK3 kit? The one in your tut looks like CK2. Anyway what happend to that drive in your pictures? It looks like the tx is already bridged with globs of solder and also the mosfet right below the header looks melted or deformed. Does that drive even work?

CK3 lite doesn't contain HDD to SATA adapter so it is not original CK2, it's DVD power plus the COM support.

CK3 Pro has them all, but way to expensive and if you need solderless, you need pay $14 more.

Yes, I messed up the driver before I got the kit but it still works.
people bridge R707 because they want to connect to TX from the 12 pin connector (left up corner). The up side of R707 goes to 12 pin connector, down side of R707 is the via (hole), so if you use the probe it touch the via, you don't need to bridge R707.
