Which drive should I keep?

Hey guys I don't know which drive I should keep I have a new phillips lite on drive and a old ts-h943(ms28)drive. should I keep the new one and get rid of the old one or switch them out the only thing I been looking at the swapping out drives tuts. and it looks a bit hard for me the flashing and all that stuff and then I have to get a sata cable and my laptop dose'nt have a sata port. I did see where some guy switched out the circuit board from one drive to another but to do that do they have to be the same kind of drive. Over all does it make a difference which drive I have is one better than the other, in the future I would like to try and flash my drive so I could play backups. right now all I want to do is PLAY.
