Xbox 360 Media Sharing General Question

I have been trying to sync my computer and xbox together so that I could watch videos and listen to music on my computer. Now I have XP SP3 and my computer is completly up to date on windows update, and also have the most common version of WMP. I have enabled media sharing and all of that is in proper order, but my question arrises from when I turn on my xbox. I try to view video and pictures and there is nothing showing up...
Is it because I need to place all of my video in the "Shared video" folder in the shared documents folder.

try tversity. I have been using it for a few months and it works great in NXE. Streams video, pictures, and audio to consoles. Quality is great also with little to no loading time, even during seek (my xbox is using a wireless connection also).
It does use a fair share of system memory, but it is worth it

Ok I will try that but is it anything like Orb... because that is what I am using now and the whole streaming video from my pc causes the picture to be pixelated and grainy... would it be because of my processor speed? (1.5 GHz) I don't think it would be slow because of my network speed because I have a very fast connection.
One of my friends told me his roommate just plugged his computer up to the xbox via Ethernet cable (which i have done) and then put all media you want shared in the "shared video" folder and then the computer should recognize it... but for some reason I think that is way too easy.

When you are in Windows media player go to the libary then hit more options/libary tab/then allow your 360 to share/back out then go down to monitor folders/then select the folders you want to use.
Let me know if you still have probs setting it up.

Ok I am currently working on that... but for some reason WMP shuts down out of the blue and gives me this error message:

I don't Really know about any of those errors,but if it were me I'd try to reinstall it.

Reinstall WMP? I am also trying to use the TVersity and need some help with that too... i know someone earlier mentioned it

I had mentioned TVersity. Computer speed should not be an issue. I am running it on and old dell machine (1.7 ghz, about 800 MB RAM), over a wireless network. Picture quality is great and there is little to know buffering time. What exactly is the trouble you are having?

I do know you need WMP 11 installed and ffdshow. There is also a Transcoder option in 'settings'. You will want to set this to only when needed.
The above tutorial goes into all of this in more detail. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response... I will def read into this tutorial, because I have been having problems with my windows media player and it will close whenever I click on a .avi or any video file and WMP will just say it needs to end unexpectedly. So I have TVersity installed and but I don't have that other program installed so I will read into the thread and then reply with any other problems.
Also, what tab am I supposed to go to on my Xbox 360 when I am trying to view my files... would it just be the video, music, or pictures tab on the new xbox dashboard. Whenever I try to do that it does not even recognize that I have a computer connected.... however I am indeed connected to xbox live via my computer's wireless access.

Check the tutorial. If your TVersity is setup correctly (which it may not be) it should show up in the videos section at the very bottom of the list.
Sounding like WMP is causing some problems for you to. See if you can uninstall and reinstall WMP11.
Google is a great resource ;)

Used the guide provided which was a great resource and.... problem solved! I am now able to access my TVersity on my Xbox and watched a movie last night!
Any suggestions on video resolution under the settings for TVersity... right now it is 300x400 I think... and was wondering if that should be any higher or lower, or what you recommend

glad to hear it!
To be honest, I have never tweaked video quality settings. The videos and shows I stream look really crisp with the default settings.
That being said, I don't have an HDTV :( If I did I am sure I would be little more picky...
