How do I burn discs to run on the Ixtreme 1.4?

I read the tutorial on how to burn a 360 disc however it turns out that the guide was only good for consoles that have a hardmod to it. Since mine has a softmod I was wondering how do I go about burning discs for that? Also what is stealth mode, and how can I tell if my drive supports bitsetting (booktype)? I plan on using Verbatim DL discs, so at least the physical medium isn't going to be a problem.

Also, if it's needed, the drive is a BenQ drive. Isn't BenQ considered the best drive around for recovering from a bad flashing, or is there more to it than that?
