Although I have a wii from launch I still haven't modded it. In fact I don't use it to often due to a lack of any hardcore games ...

Big Deal!!!

Tried the homebrew channel nothing ran fast enough except the pc emulator.

The mod chip's all though they work if you have a wii with a older chipset you have to adjust your pot settings for the drive to even read dvd+R media.

you need to buy quality dvd media, does not matter what chipset you have media is the key. i use both + and - on my modded wii. and i never had a problem with it working with img burn, just make sure you change the booktype before burning

Still running the Wii Softmod. It's not 100% great, but it is playing most of my games, very few have compatability issues.

That's not true at all. You have to stay away from junk media, which another post says. I have had crappy Ritek - and + fail reads on me, but every single DVD+R Verbatim, even GC games, work fine. Always buy Verbatim!

+1

I always use Verbatim, and when I run out and use other media like Ritek and datadisc, etc. the burns always fail on me, not to mention the stress that is put on the laser when it tries to read those bad quality media is just not worth it.

Verbatim.

Can't you just change the drive and re-mod it, or just buy a drive already modified?

Once this puppy is out, the hackers will find a way to mod it.

you can buy a wii dvd player on ebay for £53 inc delivery, chip and replace, when new chip comes out for your replaced board chip and sell, all the dvd motherboards can be instantly replaced from 1 wii to another, whats the big panic, there is 1 way (panic), and then there is another (chill). baby bull says to his dad bull, i am gonna run down that hill and fuck 1 of those cows, no said his dad bull, we are gonna walk down and fuck em all.
