burning .dvd file problems

I'm new to this so bare with me. I just had my xbox 360 modded. I've download a game wih an ISO file and a .DVD file. I burned the .DVD file using a blank Sony DVD+R DL disk and cloneCD 5.3.1.0 and when I try to play the disk in my xbox 360 it starts reading the disk and then says that it is not playable. I guess what I haven't been able to determine is whether I have to use a flashed DVD-ROM like Pioneer 111D. I was under the impression that to burn a .DVD file I could use my HP internal DL drive that came with the computer whereas an original game would need to be ripped using a flashed DVD-ROM like the Pioneer 11D and then could be written to a blank disk using my internal HP DVD burner. Do I need to use a flashed firmware drive to burn all games?

your burner should be fine, and the pioneer wouldnt get flashed anyways as its a burner, the only drive that would get flashed is a proper samsung drive and it would be flashed with the kreon FW. you might just want to try some verbatim dual layer discs as your sony's might just suck. also, what speed are you burning at?

burning speed is 2 to 2.4x
