I had a red ring of death a couple of months ago and i went ahead and tried to fix it by taking out the x clamp, replacing it with regular screws and changing the thermal paste, now on some games the screen starts flashing the red color or green color like there is something wrong with the graphic card or something. Can anyone help? At least guide me in some direction.

sounds like GPU(graphics chip) problems. maybe tighten screws some more and reapply thermal compound. make sure u use a even coating and not so much that it overflows off the chip

i would say if it was done that day no but it wont hurt you dont use much of it anyway. it also sounds like the ANA chip just heat the chip up with a heat gun if you dont have a gun try a blow dryer that may work. go around the chip for 3 mins go wide maybe 3-4 inches stay 5-6 inches a way from the chip always keep the gun moveing dont stop you want to heat the up good in the last 15 sec get close keep moveing around the chip dont stop then let it cool and try if it dont come in try it longer. the chip is in back next to the fan its about 1"x1" its the only back chip behide the flat heat sink if the warrnty is up try just be careful
