When burning I sometimes seem to have a larger area of unburnt disk at the start of the dvd .when this happens the disk will only play in the drive it was created in and not in any of my stand alone units or the other dvd drive of my pc .I am using an amd 2400 based computer with 768mb ram, pioneer 106 with latest firmware, most recent version of nero and branded ritek disks .is this a software or hardware problem

mr.harry,

Decrypter is only capable of handleing DVD-5 (<4.36GB)movies -

To process DVD-9 (>4.36GB) movies you need DVDShrink (freeware) or you have to get Nero recode2 -

DVDShrink can use Nero behind the scenes to automatically burn your DVD for you :-)

Pete

lcarbutt,

Why would you format a single write media ???

i have had no problems ripping dvds inthe past-pete may be tired but he is right. the problem is thatthe disk appears not to be writing from the start. the unwrtitten area in the centre is visibly larger when this problem occurrs but it can still hold the full 4.36 . ive e-mailed pioneerabout this problem but no reply as yet

I think you need to grab more than some sleep, maybe a brain transplant as well. Thats one of the funniest replies i've ever heard. Not even sure how you would go about formatting a blank write once DVD+/-R. It just doesnt make sense....

Maybe you should count to a million before posting. Im kinda hoping you cant count that far, but at the same time it would be funny to read the next one ;-)

Hi mr.harry,
Can you post your Nero log? There is lots of information in there that can tell you all kinds of interesting things. I can almost read them!
Try and compare a log from a succesful burn to one that was not.

Just a thought,
Frank

herbsman, Oriphus,

You guys aren't playing fair, He was mine (pout, pout)

I wanted ta play with him a litle longer :-)

I'm sure I could have gotten a lot more mileage on the single write format -
(First really good chuckle I've had in over a week)

(feelin' sorry I took too long gettin' back to him -(
Thanks for the attack on my behalf though - still good for a smile :)
