So i downloaded the NXE official version and put it on my usb stick and updated my 360 YAY!....create an avatar and then start checking out the new features. I didnt even get to go thru the first set of slides or whatever when i noticed that there were artifacts all over the screen and i wasnt even playing a game nor had i even turned the box on all day long. So i guess my box was near to this before i installed the update but it kills me how a software update can bring fourth hardware failures?
So now i am thinking i should do the xclamp fix and all that before i get rrod? what do you guys think? I have another box to fix this weekend also so i figured i might as well do them both.

Xclamp fix worked and the artifacts are gone :)
i also did the xclamp fix on 360 with rrod and it is now working also. The one with rrod didnt have any pads on the memory chips so i did the eraser pads. The console that had the artifacts did have pads on the chips but i removed and replaced with eraser pads.

also i dont see how ppl can do the fix in less than an hour while also using rubbing alchohol to clean the GPU and CPU. it took me mpore than an hour to clean all the old thermal compound from the console. i got the GPU and CPU completely clean, im talking mirror shine on both and i also cleaned from all around as well getting all the old thermal paste off. Im willing to bet that most ppl that have a failed fix attepmt is cause they do not clean all this stuff off. u can clean the surface and it will still have a very thin "cooked" on layer that is very tough to get off. I have never used the artic silver removing solution but im guessing it works much better and faster.

Same thing happened to my Xbox. Although I got the E74 error after the artifacts. I applied new bolts to the GPU only and it works now.
