damn that sucks, i figured that was the case but still. So essentially someone could potentially have to acquire more than one copy of the same title before getting a good rip that is safe for online play

It could be a bad rip, but it you could potentially just fix it. I know I've posted this in a couple other threads, but since this deals with this topic, and I haven't posted it here, it would be helpful:

When using abgx360, make sure you have the autofix set to Level 3 FOR ALL SCENE RELEASES. It will check your game against the database. If everything is verified, then you're good. But if CRC is off, it will check your iso against known verified versions of the game, and modify your iso so that it matches that of the verified game in the database. once it fixes, you're set.

You can even run abgx on the same image after the autofix and it will completly check out.

Hope that helps

If anyone doesn't know this yet, abgx360 is not on xbins. But you should all know that by now.

BTW, any idea what this error means? I copied and pasted the ini info from the previous forum page and all other directories check out ok.

"Verifying this game against the online database...
Attempting to get '2AF14E0A0C609150.ini' from the online verified database
ERROR: The requested URL returned error: 404"

depends. Either you have a bad copy of the game. Or you didn't update the ini. You using level 3 autofix?

One think you could do is make abgx output in high verbosity to a file. THen paste that log into pastebin. THen link to that post in here (just so we don't have a huge log in this thread), and I'll look at it to see where it might be erroring.

ok so when i did my check of the game i mentioned that was reported as a bad rip i did have it set to level 3. i used a tut i found to set all my settings, it was from xbox-scene so i guess its good. But are u saying that if i turn CRC off it will check and modify(fix) for me? if that is the case why doesnt it do that when it is set to the highest setting? or is the highest setting just a check and not a repair?

It's an "autofix" so it shoudl fix everything for you. I wouldn't have the CRC checking turned off. As at the end of the check, that is what it verifies against the database. And if there is a known verified copy, it will modify your iso so that your crc matches that of the one in the database.

If you're still having problems, do what I said and paste your log in pastebin, and link to it on here so myself and any others who know how to use the program can try to help.

repost it, but make sure that you use high verbosity this time. So you'll have to redo the check again.

I was just wanting to make sure your settings were correct, and you did have the newest .ini, which you obviously did. I don't know what release you got that from, but yeah, it's not a good one. I would not play that.

ok, well wait a second. I have some games that I personally have ripped with kreon, but don't verify in abgx360. If you personally rip a game, but it doesn't verify, it's ok to still play it (assuming there is no kreon error). You might just simply have a different pressing than what is stored in the database.

However, when it comes to scene releases that you download, I would not play them. Most groups that release games, will have all the checks done to that image, so others can also verify they are getting a legit copy.

So rule of thumb: If you rip it yourself (or have someone you trust rip it) with a kreon drive, and it doesn't pass abgx, it is still ok to play and it will be as stealth as any kreon rip is (assuming there is no kreon error). If you download the game, and it doesn't check out, I would not play it.

Ah ok that makes perfect sense. The ABGX database is mostly for scene releases that are spread to a wide audience, thanks for that info. looks like i should get a KREON drive...someday

So abgx isn't necessary if you make rips of a physical game disc? Only if they are torrent releases?

Yup basically what I just said. If you download, use it, if you rip it yourself, (WITH A KREON DRIVE, not with the wxripper method) then you would be fine (assuming there is no kreon error, which 99 out of 100 times there isn't).

Sorry to take so long to get back to this thread, I was not getting notified that anyone had replied, weird. Anyway thanks for the reply. I had level 3 autofix enabled. I ripped the games myself with a Kreon drive. The error only happened with 3/8 games, then when I re-checked them the 404 error was gone. The iso's still check out fine on all checks. Not sure what the problem was. If it happens again I'll try to post a log. Any idea what could have happened?

You should leave it at level 3 at all times.

I have a question.

I downloaded this game from usenet:

Forza_Motorsport_2_PAL_XBOX360-GST

(Which I of course own the original off.)

According to abgx.net then this should be a proper stealth release

Now I run abgx360 on it using the settings in this tutorial (basicly autofix level 3) :

http://techfatale.wordpress.com/2008/11/...checking-guide/

Now the first time I run it I get this:

Verifying this game against the online database...
Attempting to get 'D3F8CF8728DC7FB2.ini' from the online verified database
ERROR: The requested URL returned error: 404

Failed to find a verified ini file for this Xex/SS combination
Verification failed

And then it tries to autofix and seems to be successful.

Full log can be found here: http://pastebin.com/f7e718f57

It seems strange to me though that since this release is on the abgx.net database, that abgx360 can't find the ini file for it online?

I then run abgx360 the second time and everything looks fine. Full log can be found here: http://pastebin.com/f43674a8

My question is: Which version should I burn, the orginal downloaded one or the one autofixed by abgx360?

Since this version is listed good on abgx.net, shouldn't that be the one I should use? Especially since abgx360 can't find the ini file online?

btw I'm using the new abgx360.ini file. Tried both manualy changing it, and also tried a downloaded version. Also I get the same result when I'm verifying Fable.2.USA.XBOX360-STRANGE.

Frímann

I ran it again in high verbose mode.

Here is the first time I ran it: http://pastebin.com/f605c8fa2

And here is the second time: http://pastebin.com/f1ee9438

What I noticed now is that the ini file that it looks up is not the same in the first and second run. I'm not quite sure what to make of that? Is there any way of knowing the "right" ini-name?
