Just updated to 4_455e FW, wondering if there is any software to organise the channels for this FW yet?

You should have the bin file on your desktop and you do not drag it - you press BIN button and then browse for it and open it and it will appear in the BIN window, that is if you are trying to flash a Starview 2 The Box. Have you had a look at the step by step at the top!!!

Dragging the file from winrar does work, probably easier, as its hell trying to browse to a file .rar file if you are not good with PC's

Please point me in the right direction, I have updated firmware to 08/12/08 on thebox vpr, It finds all channels etc but will not let me view them, I can see all the free channels like bbc itv etc but all subs are just blank screens. Please can anbody say if this is a common problem or am I doing somthing wrong. I have turned on auto update.

hi guys, i just flashed the box with 4.55 and did an automatic scan and all of the channels failed. I am in dublin should i have uploaded different fix?

Exactly, I am probably presuming to much, it would appear, but I would have thought that the BIN file was already extracted from the .rar file - by dragging it out, and placing on the desktop!!.
No bazacliff, you have the correct file for Starview 2 The Box, just make sure that you have the live cable feed into the cable unput socket and that you are choosing your correct provider.

Malcy, i've got all the channels loaded now but nothing is feeding through on the channels, I've left it on S*y 2 for ages and tried the movie channels and no joy.
any other ideas?

Have you checked that your EMU is on....
Go to Menu on the remote, Then press 1570, a new menu will have came up. Scroll down to EMU and make sure its on. Then exit to sky sports

thanks, EMU was on, i was going to sky 2. I have it on sky sports now for the last 10mins and it is saying data is being updated... [0%]
should i just leave it for a while now?

when im trying to re flash my box, im getting an error when i try download that says the "model name is empty" any ideas??? im using version 4.03 of the rom loader

Nah it won't update, It does work so it must be a problem either with the cable installtion, or the firmware maybe hasn't updated right, try loading the firmware again

That is the correct Firmware if that is what it says in System Information, then you have flashed correctly. Now just try a few other channels to kickstart the updating, Disney, a film channel, dicovery, even Sky Sports 1/2/3 it is a case of trial and error at the minute, but Sky 2 is the favourite by the reports from Ireland. I can see that you are having a problem with it at the minute, but it will kick in, even try turning the box off and on, and Set Default Key etc, okay.

Guy, all I can say is you are legends!!
the god channel was working on it, EWTN. left it on that for a bit and then changed the channel and it updated to 140% and now all channels are working.

Presume you are in Ireland with that firmware 4.50, so there is no point in you reflashing the box if that is so because the 4.55 is for the UK only. So you would be better off doing a Factory re-set and a fresh Installation (you will get your missing channels back), and don't forget to turn the Emu back On afterwards.
Hi Malci, like a lot of people posting lately, I've lost most channels before christmas and am now trying to sort them out again. I'm not clear if I need to update the firm ware or not (I'm in Ireland with a genuine sv3 box).
I've done a factory reset and followed instructions given on several threads here, turned EMU on and updated on sky 2 as recommended - but its updating continuously and channels cant be viewed. Just want tp make sure before I go buying cables and downloading software that it necessary... Thanks for any advice

(This Advise was issued prior to the 17/18th Dec 08. Ireland boxes going down, and applied to the Starview 2 The Box at that particular time, after that time - it would have been neccessary to indeed flash with the UK update for short time)

Yes it is time (necessary) for you to update your firmware (flash) your box okay, as all the boxes in Ireland did indeed go down on the 17th/18th Dec 08. and need the latest GTRom 8.04 on to your box to get back up and running, with full A/U. So flash your box with this, if it is a Starview 3 The Box Super. >>>>>>>>>>
