Not Enjoying COD WAW

I just bought the new COD, woo hoo! Aw wait, maybe not wow hoo. Gamespot gave COD WAW a 8.5 and IGN gave it a 9.2. I was very encouraged by these scores and I almost picked up a copy at launch. However, I decided to wait until I got through finals so I would have more time to play. Having now spent 12 hours playing on-line I am kinda disappointed with the game.
It seems so random. Does anyone else have this opinion or is it just me? With COD4, I have logged more than 23 hours of game play and I have a win ratio of 1.31 and a kill ratio of 1.91 with nearly 45,000 kills. With COD4, it feels like I have more control over the game. With WAW, it feels extremely random. Many of the maps are so big that I can walk around searching for an enemy only to get nailed by someone who just came around a corner behind me. Frustrating is the word that comes to mind. I find my self putting WAW back on the shelf and retreating to COD4.
I know this seems like a rant but I do have a question here. Does it get better with time? I am still learning some of the maps but I feel like I know a great deal of them. I play hardcore team deathmatch almost exclusively, and have been getting my @#% handed to me. I welcome any and all suggestions. One of my biggest complaints is that, when I shoot someone... they don't die. In fact, half of the time I don't even hit them, whereas with COD4 it is a sure kill. Any recommendations on weapons?
Thanks for reading, this is by far my longest post ever and for that I apologize. I just wanted to finish by saying that I am not trying to start a war between COD4 and WAW fans. If your opinion differs from mine, thats cool. Just please don't tell my that I suck, and that COD WAW is way better, and that I should just die. I am looking for legit comments.

I find the main problem with WaW is the spawn system. Hit detection is still a little off aswell.

I agree. The spawn system is totally messed up. It's like whenever I die, it picks the place with the most enemy's and spawns me there.
I also don't like the n00bs that ride around in tanks the whole game.. Makes me very angry.

My biggest complaint is the hit detection. I open fire, point blank and hit nothing but air. Then I usually get knifed, dang. I also agree with you on the spawn system.

Also have you ever watched the kill cams and realized that it looks nothing like what actually went down on your screen?

As far as the killcam goes, I always suspect that it's simply due to internet lag, however slight it is. 'Cuz there's always some bit of lag; everyone knows that. So what you see isn't necessarily what happens.
I dunno, that's my explanation, and it hasn't proven me wrong yet.
As for the shooting and not killing... well, it IS set in an earlier time period. Guns weren't as powerful back then. Maybe Treyarch was using COD4 as a benchmark (Nuh-uh, no way!) and toned down the damage accordingly. And I find it strange that you guys have such poor hit detection. I often use that PPS... SMG thing, shooting from the hip, and more often than not I'll hit whoever I'm shooting at.
That said, I had major issues with the initial offering of guns. They're so bad that I've stopped using them altogether. That might be an issue, because it's obviously going to take you a while to get the better weapons.
...but yeah, I like the fact that the environments aren't all urban buildings this time around; makes the fights feel much more intense.
...then again, COD4 also feels much more intense in general, so... I dunno. It's a trade-off.

Thats not what I mean by hit detection, that's accuracy, what i mean by hit detection is when I'm shooting someone with a rifle at pretty much point blank in the center of the chest half the shots aren't registering. Much like the snipers in cod4 before the patch.

1.) Oh. Well, when you say that... I'd say it's lag... again. I dunno. I blame everything on lag. I die? Lag. I miss a shot? Lag. I lose a match? Lag. I lose ten? Lag.
...it's all lag. Definitely not me.
2.) It could be that the OTHER person is lagging a bit. Possibly? I have no idea how that stuff happens, but maybe you're just too far ahead of everybody. Like Barack Obama, you may be TOO awesome.

Hated COD:WAW, Only thing I like is Zombie Mode. But COD4:MW was so good that I always knew Treyarch wouldn't be able to top it. Why IW didn't try to get rights to make COD:WAW I'll never know, but I know I'm looking forward to Modern Warfare 2.

COD4 is on my short list for best game of all time...so I kind of assumed that WaW wouldn't quite measure up.

yes the spawn system sucks. the kill 2 death and win lose ratio dont mean anything since you start games in the that are already in play and u usally r put on the lossing team and with a bad signal you can unload a full clip into someone and not kill them.i find (not all)but most with high kill 2 death and win lose ratio's r people that turn there game off or pull there enternet so the game does not go against them. as far as the tanks u need 2 know how 2 play those maps. its not the noobs. when i first started plaing i sucked at it and now i would say im ok

Any recommendations on how to be successful on-line. I have noticed that many games do nor reach 750 points. I have attributed this to more conservative play. How do you think most people play, snipe, camp, or run?

I haven't found any specific methods in the normal game modes, but in hardcore camp with a rifle with a silencer and camouflage on.
