Hi to all,
I am certainly new to all this but i am wanting to get an understanding of the whole psp firmware thing i recently put custom firmware on a psp slim of my brothers and sucessfully did so no hassles thanks to a website that i found that gave all the needed software and walkthrough to be able to do this. Since then my brother has gone back to the psp 1000 series console and we attempted to do a custom firmware job on it and sucessfully stuffed it to the point where he had to take it to the modman in melbourne to have it fixed they claimed that it needed a new motherboad and replaced it. From what i can gather the proccess of putting custom firmware on a psp 1000 is different to that of a psp slim, in so much as 1.50 kernel etc...
What i am asking is can somone give me any links to read on or simply spend a little time to help me understand the ins and outs of the custom firmware on psp fats only. Just to add one more thing i believe i have followed the process of creating a magic memory stick with the firmware on it, including buying a pandora battery to be able to enter the service mode on a fat psp this is the link i followed http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/708959

Hi,
well first of all since you have put a custom firmware on a psp slim, so you must know the difference from a official to a custom. Ill tell you anywayz lol, official firmware is what sony has made and they keep updating it to stop psp hackers from hacking into the psp's and doing it so we cant play downloaded games and watch movies from our psp.

The psp fat is same like the slim however to be able to upgrade to a custom firmware from an official, you will have to downgrade it to 1 1.5 version where this enaqbles you to play homebrew apps and games that people are making. see http://www.psp-hacks.com/ ...
Then after downgrading to a 1.5 (best way is the pandora way) then you can upgrade it to a custom firmware like 3.40 OE-A then upgrade to things like 3.90 m33-3 where enables to play games and watch movies from meory card.

So if iunderstand right u can take a bought pandora battery and a memory stick with update 1.5 on it and put pandora battery in and downgrade instantly to 1.5 instead of upgrading then downgrading right?
