I am trying to run SSBB from region free and/or geckoOS (yes i have a modchip and im trying to run a backup on a dvd but it wont work.)and with geckoOS there is no menu when start up geckoOS 1.7 on my 1.0.1 HBC and as for region free, when i run it it says put in dvd and press a to launch so thats what i do, then it says game type or dvd type i forgot and just freezes there until i turn off my wii.

If you have a wiikey, why not launch the game straight from the disc channel.

Because for some reason it wont let me no matter what i try even if its DVD5 i had a whole other thread on it and was suggested to boot it with GeckoOS but i cant. The menu wont show.

I've got a WiiKey2 and use GeckoOS solely to launch games. The reason for this is to avoid updates/bricking my Wii. Not sure why your are having problems, but my advice would be to use a different version of GeckoOS.
